when did you ever get a new software update for your Nokia?

Last week for my C3-01. From 5.25 to 6.00. Added a HEAP of new features and I've noticed a dozen or so bugfixes already.

My old X6 got a software update too, gave it kinetic scrolling and added features to the media player.

The SMS tone thing is wonderful - I might even go back to the iPhone, I had a 3G and gave up on it just after iOS3 came out.

Apparently not ...

It's pretty simple, your processor isn't fast enough to handle the new OS and all the features well.

Put in perspective - your 3G iPhone has internals from circa 2007. It's not going to run 2011 software well unfortunately. 4.0 itself crapped out those phones.

Which is a perfect example of why specs shouldn't be as easily dismissed as they tend to be on this board, but that's digressing. ;)

It's pretty simple, your processor isn't fast enough to handle the new OS and all the features well. Just sell it on eBay and buy a new one. I've done that every year with no problem and sometimes even made money doing it.

And, as mentioned above, hardly any consumer electronic devices are upgraded constantly for years.

Sorry I have a 3GS not a 3G accidentally left off the all important S. So I will be getting the updates. I'm back to thinking iOS 5 is magical again.

Netflix isn't broken. Apple made changes to streaming implementations in iOS 5 and several apps (Netflix, Dropbox) have to make changes, too.

An OS update isn't going "fix" these apps. An update from the developer after Apple begins accepting iOS 5 binaries will.

Broken as in it does not work in the beta. It does not work properly, I realize that it needs an update.

Wow.

Is there somewhere within the dev center to download iTunes beta for Windows? I always see just the OSX version.

Look in the iCloud Beta Area

https://developer.apple.com/icloud/installation/

Installing on Windows
Step 1. Download and Install
Download and install the iCloud Control Panel for Windows, iTunes 10.5 and Safari 5.1 Developer Preview.

Note: Calendar and Contact require Microsoft Outlook 2007 or 2010.

Step 2. Enable Services
Open the iCloud Control Panel, and sign in with the iCloud account you created on your iOS 5 device or OS X Lion system, to enable the services you wish to use with iCloud.

I'm guessing you still can't get to the newspaper/magazine store from the Newsstand icon, correct?

Okay.

If there are any, what are the repeat intervals for a reminder in the Reminders application?

i already dont like this beta :/ i really liked beta 2. anyway, notifications are all messed up. ill get a few texts, then ill open the messages app from the home screen, reply to them all. then ill see in notification center that all those texts are "unread". wtf so annoying

You have a 3 year old phone. Technology moves on, my friend.

But having "emailed Steve", I suppose he should have fixed it.

I'd say software moves on. The technology is still pretty amazing as far as I'm concerned.

People have become so demanding of things we couldn't imagine 10 years ago, maybe 5 even.

I was driving with a friend who was browsing a website from Asia and we were finding it way too slow... That made us think a bit...

OK this is ridiculous. There is no good reason why I shouldn't get the wifi syncing I've been demanding from day one. I even emailed Steve about it years ago. So draconian Apple wants me to out and buy a new iPhone to get their crappy new software? Screw them. I'll go buy an Android Galaxy S2 instead.

Good luck getting updates for your Android Galaxy S2 in 3 years.

Am I the only one that thinks that the Newsstand icon is still a nice icon even if it won't be used? xD

Don't you mean illegal torrents? This is copyrighted software. Distributing through any channels other than the Apple Dev Servers is against the law.

jeeez take it easy big guy..didnt know the apple police was on board....he asked for mirrors, not torrents. stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.....a mirror doesn't always mean a .torrent link....could be rapidshare or megaupload!

hah :)

i say we start focusing on what really matters.....and thats downgrading from ios 5 beta 2 to 4.3.........i miss my untethered stable jailbreak

A good example of an iOS update fixing a previously *broken* app...

The Weather Channel, which became inoperative under iOS5b2, now works again under b3.

Pretty easy..just download the 4.3.3 ISPW for your device, hold option+click restore (mac) or hold shift+click restore and choose the ISPW. I did it after beta 2 and it worked fine.

Are there any features missing from the iPod touch 4g besides the picture editing? Whhat's the speed like on the iPt 4g?

I thought you gotta go into DFU mode to get back to 4.3.3.
