Just noticed for Wi-Fi sync too for me. Because this computer was new and I did not authorize it yet, iTunes asked me if I wanted to authorize it to transfer the apps from my device. I declined, and then it deleted the apps from my device too. Losing my progress. Glad I got a android phone now.

Well, in reality if you do not understand how something works, should've not got it in the first place.

I know what it means. But this is Beta 5 and quite possibly the last Beta before GM so it can be referred to as the RC or whatever if the final release is next.
Your posts in this thread should be enbarrassing for you. You call it RC so that makes it so?? go troll a Android forum.

iPhone 4 CDMA dmg contains iPhone 3G image!

Anyone else find that the iPhone 4 CDMA dmg contains iPhone 3G image?

sooo

anyone got an issue where no 3rd party apps will load?

twitter, nike gps, angry birds.. nothing works. email is fine. safari is fine

select the app, it expands and crashes. tried loading it again - same issue. killed itin task manager, rebooted. still fails. bit concerning.

no apps - not useful AT ALL

Did anyone notice the difference in the appearance of app icons? They seem to be more "glossy". The Facebook app is a good example.

But the bigger question is can you test the app that you are developing successfully?

I've updated via OTA and have noticed some annoying bugs:
1. When you tap and hold an icon they start jiggling but i can't make them stop until i press the sleep/wake button.
2. When trying to load Voice Control it takes much more time to load.
3. The battery life seems to be not so good as beta 4.
4. When sending an iMessage to myself instead of the sms tone chosen by me, the phone starts playing the Marimba sound. Annoying!

Any other problems with your update?

None of your first three bugs are happening on mine, but I did have marimba set as my text tone by default. I suspect that on mine, that's because I still haven't synced my music back over to the phone, so my custom tones are not on my device currently.

Update your iTunes to the latest beta and then sync your iPhone. :)

I live in an area that is in the EDGE network, and I noticed that with this beta (and all other betas except 4), that it's taking more than a few seconds for the phone to switch from EDGE to wifi when I wake the phone. They had fixed it on beta 4, where it literally took less than a second for the phone to switch from EDGE to wifi upon waking, but now it's back to taking at least 10 seconds to switch over to wifi.

i had to re-set up all my custom tones on my contacts as it seemed to lost them, no biggie tho

the bigger question is why do you think that is the only reason people have beta iOS software? Because it gives you a chance to sound off like a pretentious little internet troll? Or because I work for a carrier and need the software to help make sure all this software you lot are using without permission, isn't going to break my network?

if you have nothing intelligent or useful to say, why not keep quiet?

will do. thanks for that - didn't see there was iTunes 10.5 b5 out too

thanks for that. wonder what happened between itunes and iPhone to allow this to start working! Appreciate the reply.

I see many people reporting this problem but I don't know why it is happening. All applications work fine on my device from the first moment after the OTA update. The steps I followed were these:

1) While still on beta 4, I created a backup using iTunes and cleared all settings and content on my iPhone (before doing this, the beta 5 OTA update was not showing and it was saying that my software is up to date)
2) The beta 5 update appeared at the OTA update option and I installed it
3) Restored the backup through iTunes

Now all applications, games and content are there and not crashing.

My grandfather has apps, and syncs them without issue. He's 80.

If it's still buggy I would assume the final release will not be next.
You haven't used Lion have you ;)

From what I understand (I haven't updated to beta 5 yet) the issue is caused by not updating to iTunes 10.5 beta 5.

Well I'm sure if you read the instructions and did the erase contents and settings method you'd be fine.... Or if you did it via iTunes, made sure you were running itunes 10.5 beta 5 then you shouldn't have this problem. There was a reason they said this had to be done this way...
