Apple Releases iOS 5 Beta 5 to Developers

That's the SAME case as me. It was HORRIBLE when I restored from my iOS 4 beta, but starting fresh, everything works flawless for me. I can now receive my messages and view my pics :) may have lost my old camera roll, app data and texts, but I have all them pics saved on my computer so it's not a big deal.
 
Anyone use Instagram? After beta 5 installed, most of Instagram works, but when I try to share a photo it gets stuck in the "preparing" step and won't progress. Pretty disappointing!

I tried to downgrade to 4.3.5, but I haven't had success. Lion won't let me uninstall iTunes 10.5 so I can install iTunes 10.4. I also can't install iOS 4.3.5 using iTunes 10.5 or iTunes 10.4 on my wife's machine. Looks like I am stuck with beta 5 and no Instagram :(

disappointing? it's a beta, this is bound to happen. i've got issues with google+, facebook and a couple of others, but i know they'll be working by the time official release comes round, or GM at earliest.

I know it's a beta, and things like this are bound to happen. Doesn't change the fact that I am disappointed I can't use my favorite app right now.

I absolutely agree. While some earlier iOS 5 betas have installed well, I find that clean installs work the best. It takes a bit more time not using a previous Restore, especially arranging Apps, but it provides what I believe is a better and more accurate experience as to what the beta version are capable of...and less prone to acting buggy.

Me too - (with Instagram) - hopefully they update it soon. I"m going through withdrawal! :)

select the app, it expands and crashes. tried loading it again - same issue. killed itin task manager, rebooted. still fails. bit concerning.

Same problem. I just deleted the free ones and replaced them, now they work. I was going to replace the paid ones but itunes isn't showing my phone, gonna need to find the sync cord to get them back, seems wifi sync is broken with beta 5.

wifi sync is working on mine, i had to plug in and set the device to sync over wifi again, have you done that?
 
iOS 5 Beta 5

Hello,
I am wondering if anyone has any experience of installing Beta 5 then resorting a Beta 4 backup I am a bit confused when people are putting that they reinstalled a back up from iOS4 as to if they mean iOS4 or iOS 5 beta 4.

Can someone clear this up for me before I try this myself?

Restoring from beta 4 worked fine for me. I had to erase all my settings and contents before Software Update recognized an update was available.

After updating to beta 5, I selected restore from iCloud and let it restore everything over night. It does take a long time to download all your apps and data. Then I synced with iTunes to get all my music back on it.
 
iMessage in iOS Beta 5 Not "Syncing"

Hi, I have iOS 5 Beta 5 on two iPhones, and an iPad 2. Whenever I send an iMessage from iPhone 1 to iPhone 2 it doesn't show up on my iPad.
iPhone 1 and iPad 2 are linked with the same Apple ID.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Im having difficulty activating my iMessage on my iPhone 4 Beta 5 on Fido. Activated fine on my other iPhone 4 on Telus. Don't know whats up. Going to do a restore on the Fido one. Hopefully that helps.
 
Am I the only on that didn't delete contents and settings and everything is working fine? That was on my iPhone 4. My iPad has not been updated yet because I guess I have to delete contents and settings on it first but my iPhone received it, updated and now works great.

You can't, they are talking about being able to move the data in MobileMe over to iCloud by syncing it manually which has existed since Beta 1. You can't properly move your MobileMe account over to iCloud yet and keep the same email etc.

As of late last night, you can now transition your MobileMe account to iCloud. I've done it. You have to on the latest beta of Lion and IOS and iCloud and of course actually have a Dev account.
 
I upgraded my MobileMe account to iCloud, however the iCloud backup option in the latest beta is greyed out. Can't seem to find any support on the dev forums regarding this, does anyone have an idea how to enable it?

Nope. I did an OTA without a reset or wipe and it worked flawlessly. No data lost, apps all work and my camera roll is intact.

Have you got mail/accounts restrictions on? If this is on, mail/iCloud/twitter is all greyed out. Just go General>Restrictions and turn it off if you've got it on. This has been there since Beta 2 I think.
