Apple Releases iOS 6 with New Maps App, Facebook Integration, Siri Improvements, and More

Well I have updated to iOS 6 on my iPhone 3GS and I have to say, so far I am pleasantly surprised. It doesn't feel any slower and everything seems to work pretty smoothly. Although my iPhone has no apps or music on at the moment so its possible that it will slow down once I add all that.

New Maps are really, really bad. I can't emphasize that enough. They couldn't even find route from my place to another city. "No Route Found". I'm praying for Google Maps to return. Plus the colors look like ass.

I see Apple dispensed with the spinning gears.

They also made it so the volume toggle in the mutli tasking menu doesn't animate when you tilt the phone.

wasn't trying to be smart butt. actually kind of a serious question. Why does the phone open to the exact same state after a hard reset?

Theory confirmed! Apps that flashed up instantly needed to load after a reset

Blue progress bar has just the tiniest bit to go and it says preparing update, no estimated time remaining, and it hasn't moved in about 10 min. Started at 12:05 CST.

Sucks about the Maps not working all that well.
It will get better as people use it and collect the data for Apple, that's what Apple is betting on.

I had to reset mine to finish the update. It was stuck on an empty progress bar - no activity in iTunes.

all turned out well.

i know for sure this week i'll get a complaint from someone I recommended an iPhone to that they lost all their text messages during an update and it's my fault.

So much for OTA update, said I had to connect to wifi to get it. I am currently on a wifi connection that is so terrible it is estimating 2 hours for the download.

The maps really are not that great. The biggest thing I miss is no more Street View.
