OK, then I'll wait a little longer ;-) Still nothing.Tried to force restart my iPad. Same empty bar as before. iPhone decided to move on it's own though. Don't know why it took so long though. Maybe iPad will do something soon...

You cannot update jailbroken device. First restore to 5.1.1 and then hit "Check for update" in iTunes.
Ok, someone do it on their 3GS first and tell me if it's not as bad as iOS 4 was on 3G.
Ok, I'm gonna do it and report back.I have the same question. I found this video today:

and it doesn't look slower than iOS 5.1. I'm waiting for more opinions, though.
Yippeeeee, got my updates here in Ireland, works perfect, tooks me 10 min to download and update, works perfect, faster browsing, panoramic view pics, passbook, new map, and you the main one is that you do not need a password for the app store,
Make sure you insist by clicking the software update on the itune, just keep pressing for 1 or 2 min until you get the software update available for your device message,
Hope that 'll help, and great job apple.
Thx
My 4S is doing the same thing. I guess i just need to give it some time?
Installed on my retina iPad. Hrmmm..... no Youtube?
Hmm already about 20 minutes stuck on the same empty bar by now...Yes, more time. My iPad 2 did that as well. Let it work. Took me about 10 minutes on that empty bar
Quick first impressions.
I like the new look for the App Store. It's quite a bit cleaner, better laid out, and a little easier to navigate. What I don't like, and this seems to be popular opinion, is the new search screen. While it conveys more information about individual apps, it takes so, SO long to scroll through your results. It lowers discoverability by quite a bit.
The new Maps app.
The first thing I noticed is that it's fast. Very fast. It seems to scroll more smoothly and update faster than the old Google based app. The new text and line overlay is clean, and easy on the eyes.
But...
It doesn't display nearly as much information as it did previously, sacrificing tons of information for overall cleanliness. This isn't necessarily a good thing. I have to zoom to a pretty tight focus to get the names of smaller streets, for instance. The satellite maps? Horribly outdated. On Google, the shots in my surrounding area were taken around 6 months ago. On the new Apple maps? My house still had the old garage, so it's at least 2 years outdated, and it's nowhere near as high resolution.
...and no Street View. I miss it already.
It's a mix of some good and a lot of bad as far as I'm concerned. I get much better performance and slightly easier to read maps, at the cost of information density, features, and the most up to date satellite shots.
Makes me wish I could have my cake and eat it, too.
