I remember someone here on MacRumors proposing that design!!

Fresh Pie I think it was?

The "Slide to unlock" label is also larger.
So large in fact that since my iPhone is in French, "> Faire glisser pour déverrouiller" gets clipped.

iOS is already optimized for English only anyway.

Stuff in final releases always get clipped when in French, so I'm not sure they'll fix that before 7.1 gets released. Happened with iOS 6 too, that "Rechercher" (Search) label in Safari was wider than its container rounded rect.

You'd think they'd use the UILabel adjustsFontSizeToFitWidth property they created themselves, but nope. Not very professionnal.

change the language?

change the language?

That would be a solution for me because I speak English too, but you can't expect every iPhone owner to speak English, so in the end it's still a flaw in iOS for a lot of people.

And if I constantly notice layout bugs in French, which's text isn't that long, I can't imagine what it's like if you speak a language with even longer text like German or most Slavic languages.

Seems there is a new Photos icon too. Image

Why are you misleading people like that?
The article where this has been posted dates from July 31th 2013...

EDIT: Oh, you might have fell on an old article about iOS 7.0 beta 4. What's discussed here is 7.1 beta 4. And that italian source is wrong anyway. That icon was just a fan-made mockup.

Really? I remember someone begging Apple to changed it to that. I, personally, don't like the altered design; it looks weird when the edges are only barely touching. It looks inconsistent. The original looks more like a flower too, which was a nice derivation from the old (iOS 6 and below) Photos icon.

i was just joking :)

but seriously, my native lang is croatian and while it doesnt have very long words, i keep all of my electronics in english. it just doesnt sound right in other languages which is logical because all those words used in electronic devices were originally english.

translating languages is neither completely correct nor practical, i hope some day we'll put all these language barriers to rest and choose only one official language for the whole world. hopefully english. its definitely the easiest.
