If it isnt issue with hardware, then why it takes so long to fix it o_O beta 5 and major issue persists :/ common more than 5 months passed from iOS 7 release

I am not a developer and can't really answer that. The good thing is that the crashes are history in 7.1
Even tab refreshing is better.

This is the only good news .... All this people speaking about the shift key amuses me.
I just want to know if the memory management got improved

i have some questions for those who has 7.1
1) on ipad still crash the wallpapers and brightness if you type on it twice?
2) The icons animations and overall are more faster? i mean faster than 7.0.4?

Thank you so much

Whatever it will be, I'm on it. I'm sick of my current jailbroken 7.04 unresponsiveness, but lazy to restore back to stock iOs. Jailbreak works like ****. I wont ever jailbreak my phone ever again.

Both my iPad Mini and test iPhone 4 with JB works like a charm. I won't upgrade any of my devices unless I can JB. After 6+ years Apple still can't get the notifications right. Still, with all the shortcomings a JB IOS is better than Android.

No crashes. Animations are much much faster. You will love them.

iPhone 5 and iPad 3 had 1 Gb of ram, and under iOS 6 there weren't so many problem with Safari.
Since the web isn't changed in the last year, YES it is a software issue.

Why can't they just make it that all the letters on the keybaord are lower case and when you click on the shift key they all show capitalized?

Is it really hard to tell if its on? The shift key is colored blue.....

Normal keyboards have the letters in caps on them....I don't understand why this is a big deal.

Actually that's not entirely accurate. It's a memory management issue in Safari. Of course more RAM would help, but Safari needs to improve its memory management and potential memory leaks have to be fixed. It doesn't help even if you have 10GB RAM and there are memory leaks...

Memory leaks cause inevitable crashes. Reloading ever third tab pressed is just poor memory management.

1 Step Forward, 2 Steps Back

First impressions:
Some animations has become jerky again. AirDrop is broken. Some graphics in the BuzzFeed app don't show up. And if it happens in that app, I'm sure it will happen elsewhere. I am sure there is more to bitch about, but I give up for now.

What was the shift button issue in the first place?
Just curious. I'm not a beta user.

The shift key turns blue for caps lock iOS 6, not 7. Not that I have a problem with iOS 7's, but it is more subtle.

Normal keyboards it's more apparent you are pressing shift because you're physically pressing it. Also, just because we have physical limitations for real-life objects, doesn't mean we need to live by them in software.

Which would be a valid argument had they not gone out of their way to decry skeuomorphism and its value when unveiling iOS 7.

In this case, there is a great deal of utility in breaking with tradition and orientation to physical objects.

I always thought the lack of a lower case changing keyboard thing was to do with patents, could be wrong though...

I wish that the keyboard keys would change to lower case and upper case. Then no confusion.

Right before I updated my 4S I deleted all the music and turned iTunes Match off. Turned it back on again after the install was complete. It stucks in "Loading iTunes Match" with no progress at all or an hour now.

Anyone experiencing the same?

EDIT: Nevermind... Just as I submitted the post it was loading..

Caps lock is definitely improved, but shift/no-shift is still confusing because everything is grey or black & white. With shift on, the key is now black on white - it's just like all the letter keys, so it's still not obvious whether that means on or off. When it's off, it's white on grey - different from most of the other keys, so does different mean on? Or off? At a glance, it's not clear, so it forces the user to stop and think and which colors mean what. Bad UI as usual!

At least in iOS 6 there was a white "halo" effect to make it clear that the key was on. Off was clearer too because the arrow was just a white outline on otherwise all grey.

Would it kill Apple to bring back some of the blue to make things much, much clearer? Or make the actual letters lowercase or uppercase depending on state of the shift key (oh wait, can't do that since Android does it!). They seem to be hell-bent on keeping the look as minimalist as possible, much to the detriment of the user experience. So much for that reputation for good user interfaces... :roll eyes:

For those of you hoping for great things in 7.1 (or just fixes for 7.0 blunders), don't. As far as I can tell, these betas have simply tweaked visual components here and there without any substantive changes. Every complaint I have about 7.0 (and none of them have to do with the new "flat" look except where usability is concerned - as above) is still there in 7.1 beta 5. Since Apple refuses to communicate real release notes, we have no idea what has changed other than a few graphic tweaks.

Seems pretty clear that their "A" team is rushing to get 8.0 ready for next summer, while the "B" team screws around and makes insignificant updates to 7. So ultimately, none of the real issues get fixed. :(

What "real " issues are you referring to that are not getting fixed?

agreed -- it still requires way too much cognitive analysis to understand whether its on or off. something that was so simple and easy in iOS 6. amazing.

color serves a purpose. wish they'd use it here. the old bright blue for ON was perfect.

Am I the only one perplexed by Apples really novice experimentation with interface design!? Design suggestions for inactive/active shift is just stupid. As is many other design elements or lack of design elements. There is ONE easy solution to this shift-design-frenzy. Make the button pushed (that is engraved) when active and elevated when not active. THEN - users will not make a mistake. Now I have to think every time I use shift!? Ive - get your head out of your ass!
