No, it's not your choice. You share the network with other customers. The reason they don't allow large downloads is because everyone would constantly be downloading huge files and it'd bring the network to a crawl. You don't own the data network; everyone does.

ESPECIALLY in situations like this. Just a dozen or so people deciding to download a 1.5GB file from the same tower at the same time will bring things to a crawl for everyone.

You can still download huge files on cellular if you want, but companies like Apple won't make it easy to do so in situations where tens of thousands of people might decide to do it simultaneously (like right now)

If anyone is having trouble downloading because of the size, I just deleted some apps and then re-downloaded after the update

Still downloading...

Am I the only one noticing that the translucency for control center is not as prominent? Kinda miss that. Other than that every animation is a lot faster.

I hope not, the translucency of the UI is what attracted me to iOS 7! I guess I will see when it finally finishes.:p

iPad Mini: iOS 7.1 update of 298MB's needs 1.9GB's of space?! What the...?

It needs it for the process. There's a lot of unpacking and caching while it replaces the files.

300mb archive -> 1GB unpacked -> copying over a 1GB currently installed system -> 2GB needed for the transition

Did any of you notice that perspective zoom (parallax effect) is still on even when you turn it off?
Could someone check that on iPhone 5S? Thanks!

Edit: Actually just the home screen. The lock screen seems fine.

Crossing my fingers 7.1 fixes issues with bluetooth in the car. With iOS 6 it was great, I could stream audio thru my phone via bluetooth to my car's audio.

Using iOS 7 it's horrible. I've run into the following issues:
1. Bluetooth connection to the car keeps on connecting/disconnecting
2. Lots of interference with the audio quality that you can't even listen to it
3. Sometimes audio just fails to play

Since iOS 7 I've resorted to an aux cable while in iOS 6 bluetooth audio streaming was awesome.

No activation or any welcome screens came up here, just went directly to my lock screen when it finished.

That's was I was hoping! Thank you for taking the time to respond. I tried to update to the betas with option+update and choosing the .ipsw I downloaded, but it kept going back to the welcome screen as if it was a new set up/restore and it would say 'SIM not valid' and refuse to 're-activate'.

Thank you.

Not a big fan of the new buttons in the phone app (i.e. the green call button) and the rounded buttons when someone calls you. I preferred the old ones.

OMG THERE IS NO LAG OPENING SPOTLIGHT!!

Apple, amazing job, but this is what iOS 7 should have been from Day 1. 7.1 makes 7.0-7.06 look like a Beta.

Neither am I, but whatever. The speed alone is amazing.

Yes! The made a HUGEEE mistake changing that... its disgusting!

Finally now everyone who claimed 7.0 was plenty fast can admit it was a dog. ;)

It was a dog. I think it was the first version of iOS to run slow on the device it debuted with (the iPhone 5S).

iOS 6 flew on the iPhone 5
iOS 5 flew on the iPhone 4S
iOS 4 flew on the iPhone 4
iOS 3 flew on the iPhone 3GS

iOS 7 on the iPhone 5S? Pauses in animation. Delays in switching between apps. SpringBoard crashing far too often. Yeah, you could argue that having "just" 1 GB of RAM was the problem, but Apple designs the software for the hardware. It should have worked a lot better.

I checked out the bold text to tell my mom and actually like it myself.

Maybe I am just getting old.:D

Just a hint to all:

If you can, update through iTunes. It's MUCH faster. Probably will finish in 1/4th the time because your computer's fast as hell CPU will do the unpacking rather than the iOS device's much slower ARM processor.

You also won't need to free up as much space on the tablet to update using iTunes, since the unpacking part is on the computer.

Looks like the Reloading Problem of Safari has been fixed... Can open 8 tabs on my Air and there isn't anymore reloading whereas before 2 to 3 tabs were the maximum.

I would say, wait a bit before you actually make such a statement. You just updated the OS, made a cold boot and all settings and files were updated. Give it a couple of days...

What is up with the weather notification? It still says the high will be (some temp) and it's cloudy currently. How about the temperature now? So stupid.

It's a damn shame Apple patched the jailbreak. Steve Jobs is gone, why can't they just forget about the BS and let people do what they want with their phones? ******** if you ask me.

Because every jailbreak means there is a vulnerability that shouldn't be there.

iPhone 4 owners running 7.1: hows the speed?

I can't believe the update we've all been waiting for just dropped by surprised. Some devs must have gotten a notice or something, because when I got into 7.1 there were update for 4 apps, including Tweetbot 3 and Nest.

My spare iPhone 4 is rebooting. Lets see where this goes.

As some others have said, everything loaded thus far has been much quicker than 7.06. The same goes for the speed of the animations. Haven't noticed as reloading problems, yet. Not quite ready to let my guard down.

The color change with the keyboard will take a little getting used to. Nothing bad mind you.
