Ives would be fired if Steve was alive

What is it with people projecting their opinions and hypothetical business decisions onto a dead guy who was [safe to say, nothing personally intended] far smarter and more talented in these areas than they are?

Well this update sucked.

My battery has dropped 15% in the last hour with minimal use, the list / agenda view is gone for my calendar which I depended on heavily. The amount of animations are irritating, and the colors and icons are horrible.

I've found that going to Settings > General > Background App Refresh, and turning that off prevents a substantial amount of battery drain.

iOS 7 = New iOS 1.0

In my opinion this new iOS is ugly. Wow, I'm kind of flabbergasted that this is Jonathan Ives's work. After the update my iPad Mini looks cheaper and the screen seems poorly composed. I actually miss all the skeuomorphism of the old os. Really there were just a few apps that were hideous before, imo. Game Center and Notes were the worst. Calendar was pretty ugly, and Contacts was passable. All the rest was extremely well done. But now they all seem too stark and very cheap. All the non-Apple app icons stick out like sore thumbs, and you REALLY have to be ok with a whole lot of white to get into this new iOS. As for me I'm sorry I updated. The bubbles are tacky as hell. Apple has taken so many steps backwards with this update.

You shouldn't be surprised. Ive is a great industrial designer but apparently does not understand the underpinnings of UI design at all.
He does not get it. This is change for change's sake.

Using the marketing team to design the icons was the warning bell. We were told the designs would get better, they didn't. They are just bad. The reduction in complexity makes everything take longer to perceive. As more and more apps update, it will be harder and harder to find what you are looking for at a glance. You are literally going to have to read everything.

Even worse is now all developers will be nudged into this design language and all the apps will suffer as well.

imessage activation post ios7 "waiting"

anyone else having the "waiting for activation" message after ios7 update when using phone number only?

love the easter bunny reference, but isn't **** more appropriate than puke?

I think a lot of people did. The new pastel look is horrible. Looks like the easter bunny puked all over the phone. All I want is a men's version of the os. Is that too much too ask?

How do you get the (newly) free Apple iOS apps, like Pages, Keynote, and iMovie? When I go to the App Store, they are still showing at their regular price.

You only get them for free if you activated a new device after September 1 or bought a new iOS device.

iPhone 4S and iPad#2 installing. iPad#1 got all the way through the download and preparing install, but "verifying" killed it. iPad mini still downloading, at 41 minutes.

That's a reasonable want...

Believe it or not I'm a chick.

I really like it so far but I'm not doubting there are flaws to the system...

Give me a year and I will want the Linen back

:D:D:D I can't believe it went so well ! I'm not pushing my luck and will wait to upgrade my iPad until at least tomorrow .Loving iOS7 and going to play with it now on my phone;)

Wow, I just got a Speedtest of 16 Mbits/S yet iOS 7 is taking 8 (!!!) hours to download accorading to iTunes. And that is after trying around 20 times to get it to work.

Seems like the activation servers are swamped. I'm getting the message both through iTunes and directly through my iPad.

What's with this "Activation" nonsense anyways? I thought I left that BS back at Microsoft.

After having used iOS 7 betas and then going back to iOS 6 when I sold my iP5, I have to disagree....

I couldn't be more excited to get iOS 7. 6 is just so old and cluttered. iOS 7 looks and feels more modern and far more efficient.

Couple of things:

-Instead of "having to read everything" to find what you're looking for. There is this cool feature called "spotlight" that you can literally access from any home screen.

-Siri can find whatever you want from the lock screen, just by asking.

-You could organize your iPhone better (suggestion).

Some people love it, some hate it. Stop pretending like you know some secret and as such your opinion is truth. Just because you hate it doesn't mean Ive made mistakes.

BTW, guaranteed you get used to it and end up liking it before long.

I think that's for new iDevices activated after Sept.10.
