my System Status app shows CPU usage hovering around 50% with only that app open, and refresh background apps off. This happened last time, and after some apps updated (not sure which ones), the CPU usage and battery drain dropped.

Just played with iTunes radio...not too shabby. I'm a Slacker fan myself, but will give this a try.

App switching is nice, and closing apps by sliding the screen above the icon up is nice (after double tapping the home button).

Look? Rather sleek, actually....getting used to is. Very responsive, BTW.

transparent feature

Is the transparent feature or slightly opec feature I guess, is it only for 5s? everything I have is solid

Please can somebody tell me how I can download iOS7 but not update my phone? I am usually given the options by iTunes to Cancel, Download Only or D/L and Update but the download only option is missing now.

Sure, use the direct apple links from this article here to get your image so you can restore whenever you want to:

http://www.redmondpie.com/download-ios-7-final-ipsw-for-iphone-5-4s-4-ipad-and-ipod-touch-direct-links/

The speed is good, I downloaded two images in less than 20 minutes. Then use ITunes to update your phone/iPad/iPod.

Use this page to follow the small "click button" step to make sure iTunes uses the file you downloaded:

Alot of people are with you in that purgatory, myself included. Fails directly, fails through iTunes - the activation servers must be totally overwhelmed.

I just got it to work. I don't know if it was coincidence, but I swiped back to the wifi screen and then hit Next and it worked.

People are still jail breaking.... why?

just a quick example, my car audio system doesn't support asian language, so all my japanese songs title show up as a "dot" only on the display, doesn't matter through USB or BT audio, so i need the jailbreak in order to select song from the phone and still able to use steering wheel audio control button at the same time

As a developer, I've been running io7 since the second beta.

The UI did take some time to adjust to but overall it is much cleaner and I actually prefer it when I see other peoples ipads and phones who havent updated yet.

For the OTA update it will confirm you want to install it before it goes ahead, so it will just download first. You can cancel the install, but then the file is on your phone and ready when you want to do the update. Just go back in and click update.

For the iTunes update, you can connect your phone and start the update process. iTunes will start downloading the update file. Just unplug your phone while the file is downloading. Then you should be able to connect later, click update, and it should use the file that it already downloaded.

not downloaded this yet. who has had a better experience downloading via itunes or through wifi on software update. how long can i expect to wait.

just wait a week or so...

some people are seeing strange bugs and the downloads are so slow making the phone nearly unusable for 5+ hours.... so why not just wait a week until everything is smoothed out? hell even a few days would probably be better than complaining and not being able to use your phone

then again I am running GM so I am biased ;)

Successfully installed iOS7 on both my iPhone 5 and iPad 4. The iPhone was pretty quick (~20 min), but the iPad kept failing multiple times and I was finally able to download it fully a few minutes ago.

Anyone else noticing a significant lag on iPad 4?

OTA impossible

it downloaded the material but now the iphone doesn't want to update

always checking authorization online but fails every time

what a crap

And then everyone would be here asking where there update was and crying massive fail that they can't immediately download it.

And that is better than all the errors people are getting now? They don't have to do a month long rollout but the way it works now is a massive failure.

That stinks (staying on 10.7 as well). Leaves OTA updates then - course the question is whether iOS 7 will play nice with iTunes 10.x afterwords or not.

No, you'll need 11.1 even if you do an OTA update. I'm stuck on 10.7 too so I know how you feel.

You shouldn't be surprised. Ive is a great industrial designer but apparently does not understand the underpinnings of UI design at all.
He does not get it. This is change for change's sake.

Using the marketing team to design the icons was the warning bell. We were told the designs would get better, they didn't. They are just bad. The reduction in complexity makes everything take longer to perceive. As more and more apps update, it will be harder and harder to find what you are looking for at a glance. You are literally going to have to read everything.

Even worse is now all developers will be nudged into this design language and all the apps will suffer as well.

I don't get all the fuss about Ive ... anyone can draw a pretty picture; it's those that create the products that deserve an award. As for the iPod nano, 5C and now the iOS, do you reckon people are now gonna stop worshiping both Ive and apple so much ... Because these latest 'design' products are a joke (designed by marketing people and obviously children who think Android looks fussy!)
