GUIs should have an RFC

Let A = email, B = browser, C = word processor; and integers are colors:
def
A = 1
B = 2
C = 3
end
upgrade
A = 3
B = 2
C = 4
end
upgrade
A = 76
B = 1
C = 3
end

....let the pain commence.

Of course it's my opinion, if it weren't I wouldn't have written it. I'm glad you're happy, but many of us are not. So pushing back on those of us who are criticizing the new design is not really productive. Don't be such a fanboy.

I am pushing back on whining. If you are not happy about the design then voice some constructive criticism. Saying the calendar is a mess and you don't know how to do anything wastes everyone's time. It has nothing to do with being a "fanboy" or whatever other term you want to throw around.

Loving the new look and features, except that I can enable Airplane Mode from the lock screen without inputting my pass code...

Seems very counter productive after the work they've put into security.

Truly awful look

I had not expected to like the new look of IOS7 when I saw the earlier details but now I have updated and played with it for a while I really really really hate it.

The Icons look like they were done by Chad Valley for something in the Early Learning Store. And its all made worse if you have subfolders setup.

A real step back in style for Apple and one that it likely to see bigger inroads into the smart phone market by Android.

Truly Truly awful !!!

To all those complaining about update issues, I read that iOS users with higher capacities are being served first, like VIPs. So I guess 64 gb ipad purchase has its bonuses! ;)

Well, he is right about the calendar. It needs alternating shades inline with the days of the week. That makes it easier to tell what day of the week lines up with what date. Sure it isn't hard to see what day is what date but the visual clue does make it easier and quicker at a glance.

Not a homophobe. I don't like pastels. Most men don't. How are you not getting this. I never said anything about anyone's sexual orientation. Why jump to the conclusion that I'm a homophobe.

I think the problem comes with 'Most men don't.' Do you have any surveys or studies showing that most men don't like pastels? Do you even have any studies or surveys showing that 'most' people even define pastels the same way you define them?

Funny how different my experience was! I was thoroughly prepared to hate iOS 7 after seeing plenty of videos and whatnot, but as soon as the screen appeared I was literally seduced by all that colour :) And it was so much easier to get around and getting used than I had anticipated. Could it be that a lot of the people who don´t like the new look intrinsically don´t like a flashy rich colour palette?

Are you serious? That might explain why I was able to upgrade within 40 minutes :)

I agree. The calendar is an app I am not crazy with. It´s not easy to see what´s what at a glance. They should really re-do it

ios7 is growing on me more now that I have played with it and learned how to do everything again. It is a nice change of pace.

Have they at least fixed album/list view in iTunes 11?

Last time I checked, no. But it's been a bit.

See, I don't even use iTunes anymore. The only things I ever worry about backing up are synced via iCloud and Dropbox, and I don't care about my apps since I only have a handful installed at any given moment, and they're easily reobtained. The only reason I keep iTunes around is as a contengency plan in case I find myself in one of those incredibly rare situations where I need to reinstall iOS.

It's a bit redundant for me these days, so I rarely ever bother with it. I don't even think I've launched it in 3 months.

Agree or not Treq is entitled to his opinion. Anyone berating him does not change how he feels about it.

iOS7 is quite opinionated and does not offer a lot of ability to adapt to different tastes. So it's bound to be that some will like and some not. The question is does that strong, non-netural, iOS7 POV hurt or help Apple overall. Would it have better or worse to have some options to customized? Would it have been better to be more neutral?

Let Treq be Treq.

The problem isn't with his opinion, it's with his claim to speak for men in general, and not just for himself.

Disable control center access on lock screen

Discovering new little things all the time on iOS 7! Like how in songs list there is a little equalizer dancing just next to the song that´s playing :) Also cover flow is so much better built now and super fast, compared to the clunky performance in iOS6

I have a very serious question for people. My mum is in her 70's and has an iPad 3 I got her, she can use it for the web and iplayer etc fine, now the question is.
Should I upgrade her iPad to iOS 7, is it in your opinions old person friendly? Or is the change too much?
Also how does it run on the iPad 3? Because it's perfectly fine and smooth running with iOS 6.

I am asking fellow users as my iPhone 5 still can't update itself.

Also if I perform a full backup of the iPad to a Mac before I update it, can I restore the iPad back to iOS 6 from the backup after it's updated to iOS 7 if my mum doesn't like it?

Thanks :)

iPad update went spiffingly, iPhone update got stuck on the verification process about 20 times. Disabled WiFi (it was working fine since I could surf in Safari etc), forcing the phone to use 3G and all of a sudden it worked on first try.

I have some minor gripes with the minimalist graphics (like toolbar icons so skinny they're virtually invisible), but man oh man the flow is beautiful and slick, it's an absolute joy to operate the system now.
