Apple today released iOS 8.0.1, an update that brings several bug fixes to iOS 8, the new operating system released to the public last week. The new version arrives as build 12A402 and can be downloaded via an over-the-air update.

The new update fixes an issue with HealthKit, which prevented apps that support HealthKit from being allowed in the App Store. The problem with HealthKit first came to light shortly before the public launch of iOS 8, and Apple opted to pull all HealthKit-enabled apps from the App Store until a fix was available. Following today's update, apps that take advantage of the HealthKit API will once again be accepted into the App Store.

As noted in yesterday's report on iOS 8.0.1, the update also fixes several other issues with third party keyboards, Reachability, Photo Library, and more.

Apple will likely be releasing a second update to iOS 8 in the coming weeks, in order to enable Apple Pay, its mobile payment service expected to be released to the public in October.

Forgot to add -No Cell Service

... and this is what happens when you don't push it to devs first and rush it out. There was nothing on the developer site indicating an update before it was pushed out live.

When will Apple learn not to rush things out?

Apparently it went to carriers for testing, which makes this all the more weird.

I am almost wondering if somebody made this update live to all users by mistake before final approval. Somebody is getting fired.
Tim Cook better be chewing ass right now. And whoever pulled the trigger on this should be fired.

I have not done the update on my 6+, so I will make your outgoing calls for $5 a call and for $10 I will give you my phone number so you can supply it to whoever needs to contact you and I will relay all messages.

What a great way to monetize this situation.

Apparently no one at Apple owns an iPhone and tested this update out first. Well, now every iPhone has become an iPod.

They have 80,000 employees. You would think they could roll things like this out to them first to see if there are any problems.

Seems to be a problem with just the OTA update. I download the full 8.0.1 ipsw did an option click check for update pointing to that file and now I'm back up with service.

Im shocked they didn't pull the switch on update servers...Think of how many people aren't on forums who would just update

Do we have to do a full restore to downgrade?

If so, that takes ****ing forever! Thanks for wasting my time, Apple.
