No cell service is not a small mistake. What if you need emergency medical service - are you going to send smoke signals?

To any one having issues after updating, ios 8.0 is still being signed, you can restore to that older version to get things working again

So it seems that the update bug is affecting iPhone 6/6+ users who updated OTA.

5S and older seem to be ok.

Is there anyone else on iP6/6+ who updated through iTunes who can report their experience?

Need someone to confirm that this seems to only be isolated to OTA updates. Has anyone been successful in getting normal service after performing the update through iTunes?

I already posted that I updated through iTunes, and zero problems with an AT&T iPhone 6.

Did Apple hire Comcast and Verizon employees? That explains everything and the issue with Apple TV not having streaming apps that do not require cable TV.

My 6+, unboxed an hour ago, is now having the same issues after the upgrade (really need to read here first) ... no cellular (have a Cricket sim in a Tmobile phone that worked before the upgrade) and no Touch ID (when I try to set up more fingers, it tells me it failed).

Did you do OTA update?

Just mentioned on the off chance the issue might be model specific. Tech support guy in me says document EVERYTHING!

For iphone 6 users: If your phone is having problems, download the 8.0.1 ipsw and option-update in itunes. This will fix the issues!

UK on O2 carrier and yep my 6 Plus is screwed. No TouchID and no signal.

Just updated OTA two iPhone 6s on Verizon, one updated fine, the other has the no service issue. SMH, but still people want to argue that apple is no different under Tim Cook. HE SUCKS!!

People are claiming it's just an issue with OTA updates. Try plugging it into your computer and running the update through iTunes.

I updated no problem at all. Touch ID works great and I have cell service.

Was it an OTA update or through iTunes on your computer ?

Not your fault that it's broken of course, but who would update their phone half an hour before they're expecting a very important call? :/

I didn't, I updated at noon (my time), posted here at 12:30, expecting call at 1:00pm. I didn't realize that was too high of expectations? Certainly Apple is teaching that it indeed is. Apparently it's weird to expect my phone to work after an update. Good thing for Google Voice.

FIX: Roll Back to iOS 8.0 from 8.0.1

The quickest way I fixed this was to roll back to iOS 8.0. Go here: http://www.iphonehacks.com/download-iphone-ios-firmware and get the download which is directly from Apple's download server.

Then follow these instructions even though they are for downgrade of 7.0...its still the same process
