This "cellular mistake" has unearthed a strange thing.

You can't add a Touch ID fingerprint unless you have cellular. Why is that ?

Does your fingerprint depend on cellular ?

I believe Steve Jobs fired people for smaller mistakes than this. I'm not in favor of tyranny like that, but this is going to cost somebody their job.

Large entities have protocols (established over the course of years of operation), so this sort of thing doesn't just "Ooops!" happen ... it's the same thing as that cruise ship hitting the rock in Italy.

One person -- probably multiple people -- didn't follow a procedure (or didn't follow it closely enough) and will be fired.

You can't knock out cell service to thousands of people and get a "try harder next time" slap on the wrist.
