So when do you think an update will be issued to resolve the No Cell Service issue? Hopefully within the hour...

Just spent 20 minutes on the phone to Apple.

Done the usual network resets, reseated the SIM card etc with no luck. I've been advised to restore via iTunes.

Update is likely going to be pulled shortly.

It seems people who update via OTA have this issue while people who restore via iTunes seem to have normal functioning phones.

Can people corroborate this?

The whole update for at least the iPhone 6 and 6+ have caused various issues, the ones over OTA seem to be more substantial (loss of service, touch ID failure) but even people who have restored via iTunes are finding issues.

Go to settings, usage, manage storage and delete it

thank you! do you think me having restarted it mid download affected anything on the phone or no, because i just deleted the 8.01 update. Idk why i always feel weird restarting during updates.

Who knows, its easy to say restore to 8.0 but think of the millions of people who have no idea what the difference between an IPSW restore and an OTA update are. They will have to release some sort of public update

Update has been pulled

Little late to the party, pulled both OTA and iTunes

I updated via iTunes but got the "not for your build error". So I deleted the download (~Library/iTunes/iPhoneSoftwareUpdates) and now it says 8.0 is the latest.

C'mon people....just breathe

I am sure it worked in Apple's test labs. But when they release this stuff to 100's of millions of people, of course we are going to see problems. I am sure there are millions of lines of code for this software and all it takes is a ( in a wrong place, or a simple typo. You should never, never update a software package without waiting for a few days to see if all the BUGS are worked out.

All of you complaining, you bitched at 8.0 and now 8.0.1. It seems to me that is all a lot of these people do is bitch. Relax. it is just a phone. And if you have your entire life dependent on one device without a backup plan or alternate sources to work, then shame on you for being so shortsighted.

I was a QA intern at many tech companies. We can't test for every single factor that exists. Occasionally something slips through even though we run through our entire list of tests and the piece of software passes. I remember one time we had a memory leak issue that wasn't detected until a day or two before a big trade show. How was it detected? I happened to be glancing at Windows Task Manager while doing QA testing and noticed the RAM number creeping up.

I was joking. I'm a software engineer, but human beyond that. Errors occur, it's a part of life.

8.0.1 IPSW seems to have problems too. Safari crashes on boot, Calendar has an empty icon, app settings mostly empty...

Ugh. Wow. Someone really screwed the pooch. I wonder what the nature of the bug is; maybe some missing library?

Confirmed? So is this not worth downloading?

I'm in DFU restore right now. iTunes wants to re-download 8.0.1 after it already downloaded. I have the IPSW for 8.0.0 as iTunes tried to place it in trash.

Do I let the download continue? Do I stop it and use the other IPSW? (Don't remember the procedure at the moment. To stressed.

If it was a minor bug you're statements would be more than understandable, but having a phone rendered useless when it is possibly used for business is very costly. Therefore your entire statement is invalid, when a gigantic company releases an update there is an expectation that it will at the bare minimum not hamper using a device in its most basic function. You'll never get that 2 minutes of your life back.

i cannot do the Option+update with the file on my 6+. it gives me the error: this iPhone "iPhone" could not be updated. This device isnt eligble for the requested build

Option+Click on “Check for Update” for Mac users, Alt+Click for Windows users (or Shift+Click for older iTunes versions)

This is the worst software mistake from Apple in a while.

I mean, seriously, TouchID and Verizon not working? It looks like no one tested it at all.
