It just feels like Apple is getting a little sloppy these days. Scott Forstall is somewhere laughing right now I bet.

Downloaded iPhone 7,2_8.0.1_12A402_Restore.ipsw into iTunes and after extracting got message:

The iPhone could not be restored. This device isn't eligible for the requested build.

Have iPhone 6 on ATT

could it be that you downloaded the wrong file for your phone?

iPhone 6 = 7,2
iPhone 6+ = 7,1

i accidentally downloaded the 6+ build first, but the correct link was posted in this thread as the first link was incorrect.

Seems to be good now. Wasn't working for anything I had downloaded, including the wrong one from that link. Thanks for the response though!

It may be because that version has been pulled.

Got the same with my 6 on VZW. Downloaded 8.0GM and it's restoring. I don't know why Apple isn't validating iOS 8.0.1, maybe when they pulled it they pulled validation after others were able to restore with it.

I am getting same error

Apple disabled the signing for 8.0.1. The update checks with the Apple servers before it starts to make sure it is legitimate. They don't want anyone else to update right now while they are looking into it...it sucks for those of us who are trying to fix our phones by updating via iTunes though...

Same here

Apple support had me go into recovery mode on the phone and restore it. Set it back to Version 8.0. They must have pulled 8.0.1

Hope they fix it in 20 minutes. I'm downloading now.

Also downloading the 8.0 IPSW. Taking forever. I guess I'm not the only one. :(

On hold waiting for a senior advisor.

Awesome. Was expecting a very important call in the next half hour. Thanks a lot crApple.

Not defending Apple as this was a HUGE fail, but........"expecting a very important call in the next half hour" and you decided to do an OS update just before it? Not a good plan on your part. Just sayin.

All they seem to do now is give Ive a memory stick with the new updates for everything and as long as it's a Gucci memory stick that LOOKS GOOD he approves its distribution.

If you go into recovery mode:

1. Turn off phone
2. Unplug cable
3. Turn on phone holding down Home button
4. When "Red" iTunes symbol shows up let go of Home button and plug in cable
5. Restore phone (In recovery mode)

Thanks all, my phone roll back to 8.0 with the recommended links to IPSW and instructions.

Save my life. Going to have Girlfriend rage without the phone options.
