installed 8.0.2 - all good! about 3-4 minute process.
first press of touch id, after the initial entering pin code, had me ovethinking - time stood still - then
it all worked -- #

(but i think my wintry background picture set for home screen was removed .. it is now back to the old desert scene - symbolism?)

Wow, right in the middle of writing my post to say everything is fine, Safari crashes on me.

Could just be low memory. Reset your iOS device once by pressing and holding the home and power buttons for 10 secs / till you see the white Apple logo, and you'll be good to go.

Less that 40,000 users affected.

35,000 happened to really need their iPhones in those moments.

rolling heads....?

Updated to 8.0.2

Now I can't see any wifi signals #

*edit* scrap that, rebooting again fixed that.

My sentiments exactly. SO many hours of my life, more like days or even weeks at this point, lost due to  stuff not working.
And, like you, so many times swore I was done, but keep coming back. That Sony Z3 is looking better every day.
However, I spent literally ALL DAY Tuesday, just trying to get my 6 plus to sync with iTunes on my Mac. If  stuff can't play nice together, it makes me afraid to even attempt to throw Android into the mix!
If I had updated to 8.0.1 (I almost did) and then had the cell/touchID issues, I'd have probably lost it and bent the damn thing right in half!
I also find the new A8 sluggish. My two year old iPhone 5 with iOS 6 feels much snappier. But I love that 6+ big screen too much to go back now.
Personally, since everything's finally working reasonably well for me on 8.0, I'm holding off on any updates til next week at least.

Jezus... Go buy that Z3. And never receive an update. I've had lots of Sony stuff in earlier years, like several VAIO's and the early phones, and they never received an update. Well, if Apple would stick to the same firmware/iOS as the device came with, nobody would have any bugs either. That would be easy?! And nobody is forcing you to update. Stay on iOS7 or 6 or whatever, and you would never experience an issue. It's like comparing apple's and oranges....

But because Apple is still providing iOS updates to devices which are already 4 years old (4S), there are likely to be bugs. Accept it. They are always resolved. And the ones which aren't, is likely because everybody is complaining on forums like this, and not reporting it to Apple (www.apple.com/feedback).

If you are an early adopter, accept the possible consequence. If you had wait a week (who-oo-oooo), and then updated, no bugs would have been yours...

Yeah go tell those on iOS 6 with iPhone 4 or 4S or 5 thst their FaceTime works or all their security in relation to SSL is in place. Good luck with having or all work or be fine.

Victims? Seriously??? You make it sound like there was a murder

And in what way have you been giving this company a 'break for decades?' 'Always another workaround, another prayer for a fix'???

What in the world are you talking about?

Why so much hate?

im certain the majority of the moaners have never made something worthwhile in their entire life or live off state pensions etc

granted some were seriously affected but that can happen in life. its a bloody phone!! and from their posts, it looks like apple permanently destroyed half their brain or took out their heart out

Clearly no one should be complaining when something they spent their hard earned money on has been crippled.

iPad3 cellular 8.0 -> 8.0.2: No touchID :p

Seriously, works fine and adds iCloud Photo Library (Beta) option.

Still bothering:
Settings -> Info counts 271 photos
Photos.app -> Photos-Tab counts 155 + 102 in Cloud-Tab = 257
There are 14 photos missing.

I'm actually happy that I didn't go out and buy my iPhone straight away this time. I've been the Beta Tester or Guinea Pig too many times with both Apple and Nokia.

My phone is still on back order. Hopefully by the time it arrives in mid to late October, some of these issues will be dead and buried.

Go ahead if you want your phone to look like mine now

Updated to 8.02, and now I have a bar of apple soap. I have a iphone 5, was running 8.0 fine, although with less than perfect battery. I have 2 hours before my son who owns a Samsung S5 who I tease everyday having a phone being made of plastic etc to see this soap, I am unable to connect to itunes... hope to figure out something before he gets home, phew, the pain of saving my face.... relying on and being a proud Apple fan.....

update: Managed to get it running but in recovery mode... so its wiping all my data etc damm

Works Fine

Update to 8.0.2 went fine this time, one glitch though it seems to have replaced SIRI with something called H.A.L. that keeps calling me Dave and it's started singing Daisy Daisy, should I be worried???

I'm going to re-issue my previous post :-

"Opps"

(Edit : I can't believe "we" get so much good press :) ), particularly when everything goes pair-shaped.

iPhone 5 works good so far!

Updated my two iPhone 5 and so far no major issue but I kind of sense my phone is slightly heating up and losing charge little more quickly but i need to observe this for a week time before making any strong conclusion.

Having been one of the lucky ones who didn't update to 8.0.1, I can confirm 8.0.2 is functioning normally on my 6 Plus.

Hark, conspiracy!!

First, yesterday's update wasn't pushed to anyone's iPhone. The ones who updated went looking for it, now if you had a busy schedule, or important business, and your time was so valuable, why the heck were you looking for an iPhone update? Checking your phone for updates, or surfing blogs for news with your valuable time??

Just a detail which puzzles me: Maybe I was the only one in the world but I actually got a notification. Saw it, updated OTA on my 6 Plus and spent the next four hours to get back to where I was before.
