Tried to install iOS 8.0.2 this morning on my iPhone 5s (UK). Update failed after the reboot and it killed my network (always showing as 'searching'). Tried to install it again and now my phone is stuck in recovery mode (red iTunes logo).

If you're planning on updating make sure you are near to your computer with an iTunes backup and not stuck in work as you may have to spend the day without your phone!

So? You can't cause 40,000 units to fail at their most critical task, whether you've sold 40,000, or 40 million.

You definitely can, because perfection is out of this world, and there are thousands of variables involved in this field, so releasing a software update is DANGEROUS, it doesn't matter how deeply you tested it. You just can't test all the possibilities ...
Everyone with a little knowledge know that, but haters gonna hate nevertheless ...

----------

I think most people have had an experience where we look at a bruise and say, "Where did that come from and why am I just now seeing it?". If humans are capable of not feeling something that has pain sensors and is physically attached to us, it's not a stretch to imagine that we're not always aware of where our phone is and what is happening to it.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that not everyone with bent phones is either a Samsung shill or a liar. I do believe that the 6 Plus is more than durable enough for everyday use, but so was the 4/4S and the 5/5s. Didn't stop some people from breaking their phones.

Surely there are liars, paid from Samsung or not, but I think that most of the people just screwed up by sitting on it and now are claiming that it bent by itself ....

As soon as it popped up I did it. I wasn't even scared, luckily I missed 8.0.1.

So its still breaking cellular - gonna hold off until I get reports of a solid update.

My iPad wifi still seems to be screwed, pages not loading and stuff, even though the speedtest tells be 90 down and 12 up. Sound about right?

No its not because everyone that picks up a 6 plus automatically tries to tweak it. Don't forget that this is on CNN, everyone knows about it.

Sure! Indeed! I can see all the customers lined up to try to bend every iPhone exposed, under the condescending sight of Apple employees ...

Nice try.
Next please.

Does anyone else feel that in the end, looking at the big picture, software updates in general cause as many if not more problems than they solve? I can't even try to count the number of Windows software updates that caused computers to completely crash and require a complete reinstall, OS X updates that messed up WiFi and performance, iOS updates bricking devices or simply causing old devices to become unsusably slow and laggy, and Java and Flash updates causing security issues.

Yet when a software update does work as it should, it often makes no noticeable difference other than "fixed a small issue affecting 0% of users that caused WiFi performance to drop for a millisecond every leap year in some extremely specific situations that you never knew about".

Sure, iOS 8.0.2 is an update that will make a difference in actually doing something serious, since it fixes what iOS 8.0.1 broke, but then we could've just stayed with iOS 8 all this time without any major problems.

I often fix my parents computers, and the most common problem is that an update ruins something. An automatic Skype update makes it impossible to make Skype calls (go figure), a Windows update makes another program not work, or the computer won't boot, etc... So I've disabled updates entirely, and for the past few years there have been NO PROBLEMS whatsoever.

Sure, maybe an un-patched security hole may, in some circumstances, allow a dedicated hacker to install software to get the computer into a botnet, but that's quite unlikely and even if it does happen, it causes less issues than a computer that won't boot or runs 10 times slower for some reason, because hackers design their software to be stealthy and not ruin a computer, otherwise people would notice. Skype, on the other hand, doesn't care if every single update they release causes their software to break.

iPhone in Recovery Mode

Tried to update to iOS 8.0.2 over the air and it then said to connect to iTunes. I don't know what happens then but apparently it looks like iTunes is redownloading the software onto my phone.

Not that this is any help to you now, but if you had previously taken an encrypted backup in iTunes to restore from, it would have also saved and restored all your passwords.

Hey John, I never knew this! Thanks for that bit of info, I will now take encrypted backups every time!!

iPhone 6, 128GB here, UK unlocked from Apple Online.

I'm still on 8.0.0

Do any of you have problems with the camera? Either the videos being mirrored or the controls being mirrored or the phone rotating the wrong way when taking pics or vids??

Does 8.0.2 fix this??

iOS 8.0.2 updated here in UK ,on unlocked iPhone 6 plus, no problems and running smoothly ,sick of all the negative posts, this is a brilliant phone!

And also Health data.

I've been working with Apple since Monday on this,

HEALTH DATA IS NOT CURRENTLY STORED ON ICLOUD, IF YOU RESTORE BACK FROM THAT YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR HEALTH DATA.

Working with a senior iOS engineer, waiting on a update from their team on this matter.

iPhone 5 with iOS 8.0.2 ok

My iPhone 5 (in Italy) is ok with iOS 8.0.2 (it also was with iOS 8.0 and 8.0.1). I upgraded with iTunes.

Yep, I've got a UK iPhone 6 Plus and it's all working fine after the 8.0.2 update (really pleased with the phone after the jump from iPhone 5). I'm on Three if it makes any difference? I think I read the problems have mainly been with people on EE.

So I had all my Steps data deleted in Health app when I uograded to 8.0.1 yesterday and now AGAIN with 8.0.2. What the hell? Is this how Apple thinks this software should behave?? Anyone else getting this?

I also thought they were deleted (iPhone 5s), but they have appeared back the next time I hecked (an hour later, or so).

Have anyone here using iOS 8 had any issue with apps crashing and/or on iPhone 6 ?

Or general apps crashing after install iOS 8 ?

Same here. My Wifi speeds at home are back up to what they were under 7.1, on both iPhone 6 and iPad Air.

Over 60 megabits down and about 16 up. Considering I'm paying for 50/10 from Comcast, my frown has been upside-downed.

For some reason it's pretty common that Comcast's 50/10 users get these speeds. I have no idea why or if it's intentional.

Source: Comcast 50/10 user.

though, my 4s hasn't been able to do this yet.

iOS 8.0.2 Update done successfully on my iPhone 6. No Touch ID problems and No network reception issues. All working fine.

Done OTA, Unlocked iPhone 6 from Apple Online, 128GB running on O2 in the UK.
