i believe on page two someone said Yes to downloading the entire OS via iTunes. And the differences are that when you do it via iTunes most of the time there are no errors during the update process whereas often when you do it ota, the os just doesn't work the same as it did prior to the update. But in this case since the update is so tiny, it really doesn't matter which method you choose. Just one will take you much longer than the other.

I was always one who looked for announcements around 1:00 for any updates and applied them as soon as I saw them. The idea that early adoption would allow a roll back if need be. Was lucky with 8.0.1 that I kept getting server busy and never got the download to start. However 8.1.1 created a drop in battery life on iP6. While not drastic, definitely noticeable. Mostly with standby. After restores and resets and all the typical tricks I finally went back to 8.1. That put it back like it was since I purchased the device (8.0, 8.0.2 and 8.1 all super) Sooo now that 8.1 signing window is gone I am hesitant to update to 8.1.2 as I would only be able to go back to 8.1.1 if need be. Unfortunately I am now gun shy as well with Apple updates. Never was until 8.1.1. Guess I will wait for you guys feedback this time. Keep us updated!

No wonder why my purchased ringtones disappeared after restoring my phone. Oh well, my I'm jailbroke anyways so purchased everything $free.99

Installed the update.
Went to itunes.com/restore-tones to get the tones back.
Seemed to work but I do not see the affected tones back on my iPhone. I waited for about 10 minutes and still not downloaded.

i hope it fixes the group iMessage error that causes two separate group threads to spawn from one. I think this happens when someone tries to name the group ex: "family"

has anyone else experienced this?

yes! I only fixed it by un-naming the group. Serious PITA

So when are they finally gonna fix the bug that makes me pause a video every time turn the volume up or down then restart the video from any website, Facebook, etc... It is beyond annoying!! Did it on the 5S and also the 6. Wtf is that issue!?

think they'll ever get the 3rd party keyboards working right? Apple's is..... okay, but I do miss my Swiftkey from the Android days.

Whenever Apple releases new iOS builds, I always come here first and read through the comments to see if anyone's phone has been bricked because of it.

It's kind of sad that's what I have to do now to guarantee I won't lose a day of productivity while I wait for a workaround, or another patch to fix the patch.

Sad on your part I agree

iOS 8 and its many buggy iterations since was enough to drive me back to Android (which has gotten a lot better since I was last there).

OSX 10.10 may drive me back to Linux or even (gasp) Windows

I remember when Apple had much better software quality control. Truly sad.

Ios in its current state right now is much more stable and alot less buggy then Android Lollipop right now, so i dont know what your talking about and i dont think you do either

You know what's sad? I used to love software updates. I was one of those people who upgraded everything the second it was released for years. Today, however, with Apple's lately buggy offerings and bad updates (like the recent Safari updated and iOS 8.0.1) I now wait a while. How things have changed...it just doesn't work.

I suspect it's more a matter of software becoming ever-increasingly complex rather than Apple becoming incompetent. It much be 100x harder to manage compatibility and perform testing with every use case and scenario.

This is the first time that I heard of disappearing ringtones.
