I don't really care if it's faster, I care that the people operating the vending machine don't have access to my CC number/CVV/pin, so when they inevitably get hacked I don't have to do the "request a new card and start the chargeback process for bogus charges" dance with my bank.

(I'm looking at you, Target.)

Well pay with :apple: cash lol

For anyone who still doesn't believe that Apple Pay works anywhere NFC is accepted. Did you guys see Dynamic Vending on the list of merchants accepting ApplePay on apple.com? Me neither.

EXCELLENT EXAMPLE.

The list of merchants on Apple.com are just a small list of companies Apple worked with that made sure to have NFC terminals at every single one of their locations at launch. That's all.

Of course it's not limited to just that list.

If the store accepts contactless payments (NFC), you can pay with Apple Pay. It's that simple. It's supposed to be that simple.

i find it odd that america is late to this contactless payment thing. for a store not to know what it is, is bizarre.

it works well here in canada and is better than swiping, which didn't have a high success rate.

Actually, that is false. I work for a developer in the credit card industry. Apple Pay is simply the communication between your phone and the card reader (The NFC reader). The POS system then sends the encrypted information to the credit card processor, which then sends it to the bank for approval.

It's a tokenization method, much like some POS systems are tokenized. This allows you to not have to worry about your credit card getting stolen by clerks or other methods as it's encrypted from Apple to the NFC reader, but from there, acts just like a normal credit card transaction.

What this means is that the POS system needs to be capable of accepting NFC. Some POS software needs to be updated to support the latest API for NFC.

... so "functional NFC readers" as the guy said. Really looking for an opportunity to tell somebody in so many words how wrong they are, aren't you? Or did you just want somebody in the world to know how intelligent you think you are?

I haven't downloaded it yet, but is it me or does Safari seem snappier just at the thought of the download?

general consumers don't know that info...

Oh, frack, they'll learn like they learned every single thing in the last 30 years. Seriously, do you even read what you type? Dense on purpose on trying to fight a losing position?

Either Apple puts a Logo there, or a NFC or whatever else logo will be added. That's how it works here in Canada.

on the device your trying to add if having issues getting it pop up sign out of iMessage on that device then log back in and rerequest the code from the iPhone

Im trying to get it on my macbook but nothing shows up to resend the code.

Worked fine for me. Added my Chase Visa and my Costco Amex. Used the Visa to buy a Mountain Dew at the Pepsi machine here at work that has an NFC reader. No issues.
