Anyone else not seeing the new option to force a password for free apps?

They say it's supposed to be in the iTunes & App Store setting called Password Settings.

I don't see it.

-Kevin

If you have touchid enabled for iTunes&App Store you won't see the new Password Settings option rather in small grey text "Touch ID is enabled for all purchases". If you disable touchid you will see the Password Setting option.

Basically in almost any scenario where I need to do some multitasking. Few examples:

Example 1
- I am listening to one song in Spotify
- I'm also browsing the web
- After a minute or two, I notice, no music is playing
- Go back to Spotify: boots from start (e.g. Spotify logo for a few seconds before continuing where I left off).
(and, if I've got some bad luck:) - After selecting a song, go back to Safari... only to find out the webpage refreshes.

Example 2
- I'm writing something on a website using Safari
- I need to look something up in another app
- I go back to Safari, webpage refreshes and I lost my progress

Example 3
- I'm using Facebook
- Now I'm going to use some Twitter
- Some Whatsapp
- Some Snapchat
- Back to Facebook: it's got to reload again (Facebook logo for a few seconds before I can use the app again) *damn it*
- Back to Twitter: it's got to reload again *damn it*
- etc.

These are just a few examples. It's not something that is 'immediate'. E.g. I can open Facebook, than Whatsapp, than Snapchat and than Facebook again in just a few seconds and multitasking is doing just fine. But if I use all these apps for a few minutes before switching back, they all have to load from scratch.

Apparently, it's not an issue for everyone, but for me it is. And what is even worse, in my opinion, is that the now nearly 3 year old iPhone 5 does a better job at multitasking.

I've noticed that dictation goes away quicker than it should, especially in FB messenger. I knew for fact that was a RAM issue, but I will start paying attention to these other issues. Thanks for taking the time to give the details.

Cheers!

Yes please tell me this is true! I just got a iphone 6 plus this week after being a longtime android user (finally coming back to apple) and this has been my big complaint. Is it an option you have to turn on or off?

It's true. No more upside down home screen, YAY!!! Makes me so happy. It's the little things, after all..

Just installed 8.3 on my iPhone 6 Plus.

I opened 7 tabs in Safari, with the first one being Facebook. Each tab had a different website, with an average amount of data. I went to each tab, one by one, scrolled a bit in each, then went back to Facebook. The Facebook newsfeed did not lose its place. So that is actually pretty good - normally by the time I had 3 tabs my FB newsfeed would refresh.

I checked iMonitor and the usage is 88% with those 7 tabs in Safari. Normally you would see it go to 97% by this point.

Opened a few more tabs and Facebook refreshed finally.

For reals!?!!?!?!

I had given up hope after the iPad Air 2 had come out (cuz it looked like Apple was going to just throw RAM at the problem rather than fix Safari's memory management)

kinda funny how in the changelog they mention fixing the "bug" where the home screen would be upside down upon removing the 6 plus from your pocket, when all they did was disable that orientation.

This is also the first update that did not turn on my Bluetooth, it actually remained off on my iPad and iPhone.

Be aware that if you use iMazing to copy folders onto your iPad, it appears to be incompatible with iOS 8.3.

This probably means that they are swapping out apps in the background to accommodate the tabs in memory. Or they are locally caching pages rather than loading entirely in RAM.

Also, http://gshock.com/watches - which is a hellish site full of watch images - is now loading entirely in Safari without that annoying reload prompt below the address bar (Chrome still crashes but that is Google's problem).

i hope you all are updating via iTunes...the OTA update ALWYS seems to cause problems

I love how the moderators took down my jpeg of the definition of an internet troll.... I wasn't point fingers.... sheesh

Updated a 6 Plus, iPad Air and iPhone of OTA. No issues.

Wifi calling enabled

If you are on the EE network in the UK, this update enables the feature that Apple have dubbed "wifi calling". Technically it is voice over wifi using an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) in the operator's core network. No apps are required for this. You use the handset in exactly the same way as when you are connected to the radio network. This is likely to be a big deal for people who have no coverage at home.

OR people are seeing slightly more free memory because they've just done a very rare reboot of their device :) Though I hope it is actually an efficiency improvement.

I find it offensive that it's not possible to change the skin tone of the smiling poop emoji.
