Apple Releases iPhone OS 3.0

Am i the only one thats having a nightmare with updating... downloaded and installed but on the restart i can't access the store... nightmare... my phone is currently useless as it is

I had that problem. I restarted my computer then tried again. It took a while to apply back up and upgrade but it worked.

I had that message when upgrading to the 2.0 software. A restart of my mac and restore on the iphone worked to clear it. Good luck, I have to wait til I get home to try 3.0

That's only for iPhone 3GS.

That's not true I got a 3G and it showed up on mine no options or anything by default just showed up... then again mine was jailbroken, would that make a difference?

i have a copy of the GM on my iPod touch and $0 in my bank account. the GM is now the official version...

Did this happen to anyone else? I didn't update. I know that the GM is the public version it is weird to me that it changed over the air.

My 3G is showing batter % after the upgrade to 3.0.

Did you change any settings or anything? My (never jailbroken or anything) 3G just has the battery icon.

How do I turn on push, I thought it was going to be under the carrier in settings but nothing there.

Any ideas?

Push is only on a per-app basis. Applications have to be updated to use push. There is no specific Apple setting for it.

Having issues here with an iPod Touch (2nd gen). The update downloaded and installed, but it keeps getting stuck during the sync. Everything has been restarted and still the same issue. AHHH

First post-3.0 backup is sloooooooooow

Not sure why, but the upgrade was fast and easy and now the first backup is taking forever. I'm hoping this will be a one-time thing then back to fast backups!

Well this isn't going very well. I stumbled upon an unknown error #405 or something like that. I was forced to restore it.

Now I can't get it to Sync anymore. I keep getting a -4 error related to the iTunes Store. I really hope I can restore it to my previous settings and get back the data I had on it, nothing much but some notes pre 3.0
and some photos. And then there's the app layout.

Anyway, the error message tells me to try again later. I guess the servers are overloaded with similar requests. I hope it won't be like 3G launch when our phones were bricked almost all day.

when finish then the i see the itunes logo and the usb logo on my phone.

The camera is better. It follows motion A LOT better.

I kind of enjoyed the trippy sensation that everything the camera was looking at was painted on a piece of cloth, flapping in the wind.

Restarted my comp and iphone a couple of times now... guess i'll just have to wait... do you rekon o2 will give me some money back for the time i can't use my phone hehe...

Anyone else notice that the overall quality of the images on the screen look better? Did they finally re-adjust that 'warmer' color they were using back to a slightly 'cooler' color profile???

I mostly notice the difference on my home screen. Everything just pops a little more...anyone else? Or am I nuts??

I agree with that. I noticed it too. It looks sharper, for some reason.

Apple didn't post their utility for iDisk yet. It will be great to have that app pronto!

Thanks but thought you had to turn it on, on the handset and then for each app.

Hey I heard that AT&T aren't supporting MMS or Tethering yet, just wondering if anyone knew if O2 were in the UK?
Just downloading 3.0 now but one of my friends said that MMS isn't working on his?

Yes they do support although tethering is a extra bolt on. After you update they should sent you a MMS,if it doesn't happen text MMS to 1010.

It is on O2... if it doesn't start working for you - send an SMS message to 1010 that will activate MMS for you. As for tethering.. that is available as a bolt on to your tariff.

Likely the activation servers are a little busy with everyone updating their phones at the moment. Not really all that unexpected given what happened during the 2.0 OS roll out. Just try again every now and then. Sucks but...

...and for those asking what 3.0 OS provides for older iPhones / iPod Touch...

It provides a HECK of a lot of things to developers that will allow for better applications on the phone. It also has across the board improvements in performance (power and speed), security fixes, etc. above and beyond the "big" user facing features like cut/copy/paste, more landscape support, push-notifications, etc.

hey guys , updated my ipod touch, i turned on the bluetooth an im trying to add my bluetooth headset but it dont come up, my macbook sees the touch but the touch dont see it, i was able to add the touch to the macbook an the macbook does now show up on the ipod, an same for my phone, my phone saw the touch but the ipod wouldnt see the touch?

its like it cant see other devices
