okay, so I already loaded 3.0 on my mom's iphone and it worked beautifully..

i left the computer to load it onto my Dad's, but upon restarting the iphone, there was an iTunes error -4... could somebody tell me what that means?

i sure hope that this hasn't ruined the phone.

Guys:

It appears that the backups are extremely slow during the sync now. Have you experienced the same as well?

In my experience, it was only the first backup after the upgrade. Afterwards it has been much faster than before, with 2.2.1.

Onother topic, everything seems to scroll smoothly. Great update!

10 Application Pages = 16 More Application Spaces

Undocumented to date is that there are now 10 Application pages instead of 9 to date. So now we can have 16 more Applications installed than before. :)

Anyone else see this on "Databases" in the Safari settings?

if i update my 1st generation iphone 8gb to 3.0 can I jailbreak it right away as well?????????????? or do I have to wait? if i can jailbreak it ... do i just use quickpwn like usual?

Yes they do support although tethering is a extra bolt on. After you update they should sent you a MMS,if it doesn't happen text MMS to 1010.

Cheers I just finished downloading, didn't get a message so will message that, thanks :)

No difference from GM 3.0 (7A3410)

So I've been running GM 3.0 (7A3410). Is the released version the same version?

Anyone else have NO MMS option or anything in photos/sms apps? I figured it'd be there, just not work for AT&T, but i don't even see it.

Another update: Tethering preference automatically disappeared for me (i don't have the bolt-on) after changing network settings as advised by O2. Had to reload the ipcc file found on this forum to get it back

The update has been kind of underwhelming for me on my 1G iPod touch. The small features are nice, but as a user of an older device I'm missing out on a lot of the big new features. Well, I'll just have to start thinking about upgrading then!

Apple has flipped the switch on Push, but individual apps have to be updated to utilize it. Those updates for major applications should probably start appearing later today. I cannot wait myself ;)

The AIM with Push is pretty much the biggest feature to me on this thing. Now we're not only Windows Mobile killers but also Sidekick killers. WOw...

3.0 Upgrade Major Issue

Downloaded Quickly, Installed, but when it restarted the phone it now shows the "Connect to iTunes" screen and iTunes pulls up a -4 Error "We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occured"

Please say this didn't just kill my phone!

weird issues

after updating, my email, calendar, and using VPN (on a university) WON'T WORK. I've already deleted the exchange account for calender (which I sync with Google Calendar) and re-set it up - nothing. Email just "loads" forever. And the Wi-Fi is being really stupid.

On my university, we need Cisco VPN set up, which I had set up just find on 2.2.1. Now when I start the WiFi first, a browser page pops up that HAS to access the internet right then for some reason (the top says www.apple.com) BUT I can't load the page because I didn't have a change to start the VPN. If I cancel out of the web page (which is my only option) then it cancels my connection to the WiFi, starting the mess all over again. UGH

It just means the server is over loaded with people trying to upgrade. Keep trying every 10 minutes or so. It will work eventually.

My phone locked up on the apple screen when it was restarting. It won't turn off by holding the button. How do I resart it?
