Apple knows how many iPod touches and iPhones have been sold worldwide up to this point, correct? The fact that they weren't prepared for this evening's server run is absurd, yet again. You think they would have learned from last year's MobileMe and 2.0 releases.
If I see "Unknown Error (-4)" one more time...
With those billions in cash reserves, I'd think something could be down about situations such as these.
Hmmm, yes... Let's invest $$$$$$ in servers and bandwidth for a rush that happens maybe once a year for a span of less than 24 hours... That makes a lot of sense, business-wise. If people didn't get their panties in such a twist over getting this update NOW NOW NOW, there'd be no problem. I'm going to wait until tomorrow to update just to avoid the hassle
Seriously though, think about it... Millions of people are trying to connect to dozens of servers simultaneously... You would need server farms like Google has to handle that kind of load. It makes sense for Google to have those kinds of server farms - it's at the core of their business model. Fortunately Apple is building a swank new farm in North Carolina.
