Apple is sure on a power trip with these updates. They don't want anyone to keep their jailbreak iPhone.
iPhone users should connect their iPhones to iTunes and click the "Check for Update" button to obtain the new version. PFFFT NO THANKS, I'll wait for another jailbreak update like always.
APPLE you can't win this, trust me it's been proven that you can't make us from not using a jailbreak iPhone. With you're crappy pre-updates, you keep putting bugs in them purposely trying to trick us from having a jailbreak iPhone.
TO conclude this babbling issue, having a jailbreak iPhone makes every possible use out of the phone. NO QUESTIONS ASKED.![]()
I had the wake from sleep issue, amazingly the same day this update came out. It wouldn't do anything until I plugged it into the mains and then all it would do was take screengrabs.
I skipped the 3.1.1 update after reading that it made the speaker quieter.
Anyone upgraded from 3.0.1 to 3.1.2 noticed any difference in speaker volume? Same or less?
Or upgraders from 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 notice same or louder?
I appreciate everyone that corrected me but all the arguing in the world doesn't change the fact that the iPhone transfers data 8 times faster over USB than wifi; tethered, ssh, sftp, syncing, ... you name it.
I live on a boat with an iPhone and a laptop. My iPhone is my ONLY internet connection. I've tethered it with the "carrier file hack", iPhoneModem, PDANet and MyWi. MyWi is the hands-down winner - plus it allows you to tether via wifi, bluetooth or USB. The USB tether blows the socks off of all the others. Speed tests are comparable to DSL.
I am on AT&T with a 16 GB 3G off the coast of Los Angeles, CA.
Wasn't it the 3.1 update that made the speaker quieter?
Yep that's why I skipped it and hence my question if 3.1.2 fixed it.
So, someone please answer the speaker volume question
(a) 3.0.1 to 3.1.2 = no difference = fixed
(b) 3.0.1 to 3.1.2 = quieter = not fixed
(c) 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 = louder = fixed
(d) 3.1.1 to 3.1.2 = same = not fixed![]()

Try that when the music isn't playing and see what happens. It dumps you into the iPod app rather than bringing up the controls. I think that's what the guy means.
Can anyone with a bunch of podcasts on their phone that has installed 3.1.2 scroll through through the list of their podcasts and tell me if the scrolling is smooth or not? In both 3.1 and now in 3.1.2 both my main list of videos and podcasts scroll very sluggishly.
Speaking of fixed, I fixed your question for you. There never was a 3.1.1 update for iPhones, only for iPod Touches. iPhones had 3.1 only.
I currently have 21 different podcasts on the phone and when you scroll through that list it is very jerky. But what is weird is that if I go into one of my podcasts (like say GeekBrief.TV that I currently have 51 episodes of) the list scrolls as smooth as silk as it should.
Aha! So I wasn't the only one. I had this issue twice. No matter what I did or pressed, my iPhone was locked on one screen and any button I pressed took a screenshot. The only thing that could bring it out of that mode was receiving a call. But after the call, it would revert to taking screenshots.
I took my iPhone to the Apple Store and that genius there said that my power button had gotten stuck.
... and that is why I charge mine at night!![]()
This used to apply to me, until 3.1. I'm done upgrading, until I see how others are doing weeks after an update. It really seems like Apple is becoming more like MS every day.
I wonder how many new problems will be created with this latest update?
