im still on iphone 3.0.1

do you think 3.1.2. will fix the problems with 3.1? or should I still wait in case there are problems with 3.1.2?

Any idea what the carrier update includes? If you click on the "Learn More" link, it just takes you to a page that describes what a carrier update is, not what's changed in this version.

Anyone updated that can tell me if this fixes the order of smart play lists with Live Updating enabled?

I was just in the Apple Store, and in just a few minutes overheard multiple different people complaining about the freezes (some of them Apple Store employees talking about their own phones). Pretty widespread, I'd say.

I'm NOT going to rush into the latest update, though. I'll install tomorrow after the guinea pigs have been at it :) 3.1 (and iTunes 9) have acted just a little too weird for me, and my trust is low

sorry for being a newb, I just jailbreaked using quickpwn to 3.1.1

what does this mean to me? do I just wait until the new ipsw file and restore from original and do it again?

thanks all for your patience!

Yeah, I hope it fixes the infamous battery issue. Right now, my iPhone is almost unusable.

Load shed all the power hungry items that you don't use at the moment, 3g, bluetooth, location services.

I know, I know, whats the use of this phone if I turn all that off. Well it's really not that big a deal to turn on each as you need it and it really improves battery life. Only other option is to use an external batter iphone case.

Because USB is 440 mb/s and 802.11n is only 54 mb/s.

exactly - good point - big updates like this could not be trusted to work well over wireless connection.

funny how with every update people post to say that they are clinging on to older versions and implying that only fools would continue to upgrade to the most recent one...

i would update but then again i have no problems with 3.1.

if you are perfectly satisfied and do not need any of the improvements found in the newer revisions, then just wait if you are worried something could go terribly wrong somehow.

Thank u for that network- restart issue fix. I've gotten this problem about 3 times and have been getting really pissed off. I was figuring it was AT&Ts fault. I'm really surprised from all of these network issues. I've been thinking also I might have a defective iPhone. Definetly download this when I get home. Thanks apple!

Oh really? Do you think turning off all those "power hungry items" will help my battery life, which as of last time was 42 minutes of usage and 2 hours of standby? No exaggeration!

Does on mine. Makes a huge difference. My phone last all day long on standby, at least 12 hours+

Because only a very very small percentage of iphone users care about wireless syncing.

that's very shortsighted. that's a feature that many competitors have been offering for a while. Blackberry was syncing the Pearl (my previous phone) via Blutooth, and now the Zune allows wireless syncing.

just because apple doesn't offer it as an option doesn't mean it isn't wanted or necessary. did you support Apple's decision to NOT include cut/copy/paste, because you agreed with them, that it wasn't NECESSARY? How about flash? how many websites feature flash objects that we can't see?

all i'm saying is that for the iPhone to truly be the BEST phone out there, we should have the features that the competitors offer, and then have better features.

Only fools would upgrade to an UNTESTED version. LOL! Call me foolish. I've been following the lemmings off the proverbial cliff since Apple's 1984 commercial.

Still sluggish on my 3G..

Ever since 3.0 was released, my phone has been fairly sluggish. Takes ages for the keyboard to appear sometimes etc.

This used to apply to me, until 3.1. I'm done upgrading, until I see how others are doing weeks after an update. It really seems like Apple is becoming more like MS every day.

BTW, 5.6 makes it where you can never tether. /just kidding

I'll stick with 3.0 and the 6.0 carrier file, until I see a clear reason to upgrade (or downgrade the carrier file). I had earlier went to 3.1, but all that did (for me) was make moving icons around easier. I finally needed tethering for attending a funeral , so I'm pretty much stuck with 3.0 for now, if I want to use the 6.0 carrier file.

I wonder how many new problems will be created with this latest update?
