This issue occured on every mac I seen upon installing iTunes 9.2. I even tried clean installs of both 10.5 and 10.6 starting with iTunes 9.1 and moving on to 9.2. and the problem started directly after 9.2. The artwork appears fine in the finder within the iTunes music folder, but I you copy a file to the desktop for example, it's gone.

Wow....I never noticed that. The Finder not showing cover art has been driving me nuts!!

Ughh, iTunes still cannot find artwork for my perfectly tagged Smiths album "The Sound of the Smiths (Deluxe Edition) [Remastered]"

Anyone know any special tricks to getting iTunes to grab the stubborn ones?

Brool story co.

iTunes has pretty much been stagnant for the past couple years. Genius? Meh, who uses it.

That being said, I have no thoughts about how to make it new and exciting, minus wireless syncing. I don't really care to subscribe to a streaming service, much rather have a local file or a disc...but that's just me.

Agree.

It does seem to me that the major changes to iTunes these last few years is to become more bloated, adding in gobs of iPhone, iThis-iThat related stuff. Growing the installer size by megabytes and megabytes.

My suggestion, which is unlikely to ever happen, is for iTunes to refocus back on -- oh, MUSIC -- and to put all the accessorizing into separate, user-choosable pieces.
Yes, obviously there needs to be an app for that, so to speak, for iPhone users, and the other uses, etc. But surely there is a better way then the ever-growing iTunes-must-install-everything-now.

As it is, when I install it, at least on Windows (vs Mac) I break out the msi and only install the parts that I need.

Just my view. ;)

I don't even care about features. Just make it faster. MUCH faster.

I grab the missing album covers from Amazon... which is where I buy most of my CDs.

If iTunes can't find it, I find the cd artwork on the internet by running an image search for the album, find it anywhere, then drag and drop the image right into iTunes, in the lower left corner where it says "drag artwork here"

If the artwork is not anywhere on the internet, then I don't know.

I do. A lot.

Granted, not the store recommendations, but Genius playlists are top notch.

I wish there was a slider that would let you adjust how MUCH you want the songs in your genius list be alike.

I use Genius playlists daily, but for me they are *not* top notch. They seem to play the same songs repeatedly (I have 4000+ songs), and my biggest gripe is that they can't seem to keep the Christmas and Hannukah (Adam Sandler) songs out of the Soundtracks and Singer/Songwriter mixes. This goes for Children's songs as well that make their way into mixes that they shouldn't be in.

They're only useful for the lazy, like me... :)
