Apple should split the iTunes into multiple apps in my application with a central Media browser linking them all for iSync. I don't get this need to have everything in one place and bloating it all up.

iTunes for MP3 management, iMedia for Movies/Podcasts, iBooks, iSync for the iOS device management and the iTunes Store API so that all of those apps will be able to go to the store for downloading as well as downloading the latest whatever (without needing an app for it), this is probably why the stores are using webkit interface.

They'll be ultra light, fast and simple.

The worst idea I've heard for a long time.

Not sure why people are posting Spirit jailbreak boot loops. I updated just fine and now I am running IOS4 GM without trouble as well on my Iphone 3G.

I don't understand your logic.
You'd rather open up multiple programs to sync one device?

iTunes is a pimp for the sole fact of having everything in one place! How much simpler could it get!?

how many iPhone/iPod touch users are windows users; Apple really needs a faster iTunes on windows.

hope the above poster true and iTunes 9.2 improves performance is better in windows too...

i downloaded beta 9.2 on my mac it is fast like others telling it is just one bounce.

one question, do i need to upgrade from beta 9.2 to current 9.2?

I upgraded from 9.2 beta to 9.2

The build number went from 45 to 61

However, I had to do it manually, Software Update couldn't do it

The worst idea I've heard for a long time.

Why? I changed my wording, I shouldn't say need, but should instead in my opinion.

agreed

i dont want some messy installer with a confusing "what to install" list
You already have an installer and Apple doesn't have to list the "what to install" by default, it's an advanced option. They'll just install all of them by default.

The boot loops happens to people who didn't jb before 9.2. It doesn't apply to currently jailbroken devices.

Why would I open up multiple programs? It'll just load iSync automatically and it'll ask me what I want to sync, it'll just give me the libraries located on my computer (Think "Media Browser" from iPhotos).

Granted, there are far more people who just wants everything at same time than people like me who just prefer simple multiple apps to do its job at the time I want it.

If I just want to add books, I'll just open up iBooks and drop it in and close it. What's the need to open up a whole suite app just to do it?

It's like iWork, if Keynote/Words/Numbers integrated in one application, I wouldn't like it either.

To all Windows and Mac users

you get what you pay for

Windows : If you want a fast machine it better be as expensive as a Mac. (Vaio)

If you buy a stupid Netbook and expect iTunes to run any better than it does you are fooling yourself into thinking the small amount of money you payed for that nonsense is somehow a bargain you deserve. ( LOL )

Yet people who shill out $3,000. or more realize that is WHY they are paying what they are paying !

Don't forget.

you get what you pay for

I'm sorry, but there are far far more Windows users out there than Mac users. I simply refuse to buy a Mac because they are extremely over-priced. It is one thing to spend $300 on a phone that will be obsolete in a year or two, and it is completely another to spend $2,000+ on a Mac computer that will also be obsolete in 1-2 years. Until Apple gives me a way to upgrade my Mac without completely replacing it with a new one, I will NEVER buy a Mac.

I'm quite happy with my iPhone/iPad and Windows 7 PC. My only complaint is that iTunes is a huge resource hog and it crashes often. It's funny how Apple goes on and on about how their stuff doesn't crash or have security holes, yet iTunes is the app that crashes most frequently on my PC. Also GS security can tell you how Apple has security holes.

Some of you Apple fan boys are just naive. Wake up and smell the MARKETING.

Then why do you come to this site? Go to PC rumors, if there is such a thing. The user decides what's obsolete, if it no longer does what you want it to do, then it's obsolete and time for an upgrade. I've been using 3 blade razors for years, just because a 5 blade one comes out, does that make the 3 blade one obsolete? No, it does what I want it to do, a lot of people still use 2 blades. Technology advancement is natural, so you can wake up and smell that.

Is the IOS4 link floating around one for a fresh install or will my backup restore on the phone after IOS4 is on it?

I don't know. But I do wonder why the program is still called iTunes when the days of it being a simple music library are long gone.

They changed iPhone OS to iOS to reflect its broader application. Okay, so what about iTunes? What should they rename it to?

How about iTunesAndVideoAndBooksAndDeviceSyncing? That's kind of catchy.

For all those complaining about bloat and sluggishness. You think Apple doesn't know this? I don't think they ever expected iTunes to be thing big and iTunes X with cloud integration will solve all of this. It's gonna be amazing!

I still use a Straight Razor.
