I think with this new flashy home sharing, it allows multiple sharing from one account, i.e you can share stuff across multiple computers, using just the one itunes account, and also copy stuff.

Dont quote me on that though, its just an assumption..

:)

it's actually more "copying" that "sharing". sort of like keeping the two versions of itunes "synced", so the physical files are saved on each mac.

I only had 10 minutes to play with it at home before I was off to work. I did notice the + cursor show up but I didn't drag anything over.

It looked good on the stage until I was somehow limited to purchased media but they still mentioned drag and drop into your library functionality. I'll have to spend more time on it because it doesn't seem that much better over the previous sharing mechanism for me.

Just took the plunge and installed iTunes 9...really, after reading all these "complaints" by a select few, I must say: you guys are full of hot air.

1) iTunes looks a lot cleaner, and feels MUCH faster in scrolling and playing when dealing with relatively large libraries like mine (50+ Gb);

2) The white background used in movies is consistent with the overall browsing experience, and ALSO looks a lot cleaner;

3) Home sharing is a much welcome feature;

4) Gradient, buttons and the "brighter" tone look a lot better than what is being said here by some "pundits"; and no, it does NOT look unfinished; the equalizer looks kinda cool too;

5) Genius mixes is a REALLY cool and smart feature.

I hope these comments bring some reason back to this forum; otherwise we tend to think that all Apple does is crap nowadays.

Genius mixes is a really cool feature!! :) I like the EQ as well, the blue lights :D

I dont actually have any need to use shared librarys at the mo, my parents computers filled with junk, and rubbish music so i keep my laptop for mine :D Might be handy for my mac mini>media server, but im not sure how its going to alter the user experience possibly not all, who knows!! :s

I have my MacBook and soon to be Core i5/7 desktop. It's a little annoying to have both on when I could sync the libraries. I don't have a network volume with my iTunes library on it since I have limited utility for it.

And why have they removed the shopping cart?
Obviously to encourage impulse buying. I can't count the number of times I've picked a small set of songs in my shopping cart and ultimately ended up removing some before purchasing.

Check your preferences. iTunes updates seem to reset some settings for me, like the "Keep my iTunes folder organized" setting stuff I have hidden like the TV shows section or Podcasts because I don't use them, etc.

Anyone try to use the App Organization feature for a iPhone the is using a 5 icon dock and column?

eh

Its not horrible.

I do like the new feel.
I do like the new look in the store.
I do like how easy it is to sample the music & videos in the store.
I do like how you can organize apps.

I dont like the white background on the videos.
I dont like the shopping cart is gone.
I dont like the beatles are still missing.
I dont like the artist colum.

Overall I think the look will get some getting use to. It seems to be running fine. 8.75 out of 10.

I do think they are abit small now you mention it yes, I dont think the store layout sucks would be nice to have the prices an extra 1.5pts bigger though :)

I'm on a 13 inch Macbook so it's definitely a pain in the ass to read it. :D

Social Networks?

Anyone else see this?

Seemingly not all files though :|

Will have to see if I can figure out tomorrow why it is allowing some and not others

All mine I have checked work. I use the default Handbreak. Im going to try one with with just 5.1 and see if thats the problem (I have both in all my rips - Im just guessing that may be the problem).

I have a 2nd gen ipod touch, but I'm not seeing the new feature in itunes 9 where you can re-arrange your apps, that was demonstrated in the keynote. Is there a setting you have to enable? Or did I miss something?

I was just trying out CoverFlow in iTunes 9.0 to browse though my applications (kinda useless since you can't really do anything with them on your Mac) and it occurred to me:

Why not have CoverFlow for your apps ON the iPhone?

Better yet why not let you actually USE YOUR IPHONE APPS on your desktop machine in iTunes!!!

THAT would be cool !

You see wrong - It is still 32 bit :( on the Mac at least. Windows does have a 64 bit though - it was ben around since iTunes 8.

Windows iTunes isn't 64 bit. It just has 64 bit driver so it can be used with 64 bit Vista etc. The app is 32 bit. If you just had some curiosity, everyone knows this.

Yes. As I said there would be facebook integration in the new iTunes. Everyone shot me down, saying I was reading too much into this year's slogan, but as always I was right. ;)

haha well at least they have twitter there to!

But what about when the fad of twitter/facebook is over?

....just like myspace.

Just discovered a crappy problem. When using the column sort "Album By Year," iTunes no longer can figure out the difference between Disc 1 of 2 and Disc 2 of 2. Normally what "Album By Year" does is sorts first alphabetically by artist and then sorts each album from that artist by the year it came out. Discs 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 would display in the correct order in iTunes 8. Take a look at this and look at the Track column. Since the album is from the same year, it's having a problem and simply displaying everything by track number:

This mini player thing is EPIC FAIL....what a lame move.....

also..what happened to the Music category in the app store ?

not happy so far

EDIT the music category is there...just not in the drop down menu in the store ? ....

Mini player is still there.

Jesus! It seems that some people just can't wait to get onto these forums and start bashing!

Almost all the problems people a talking about here can be adjusted/fixed if you were just to spend one bloody minute looking for the answer.

You Can have the browser at the top!
You can use the mini player!
You can adjust the grid view size!
You can sync real and fake apple TV content!

Personally I'm fine with the look, I'm not so affected as others by the non uniform UI.
iTunes 9 is so much faster on my ubMB (4GB ram though) especially coverflow! It's soooo much faster and loads all covers instantly! Might actually use it now.
The only thing I'm not keen on is the white backgrounds that replace the black from itunes 8. But I guess this might come back in an update.

99.9% of Mac and Windows users don't NEED more than 32-bit. No one is saying that we should be stuck on 32-bit apps forever, but people are acting like they must have 64-bit iTunes right now. And if you sat them down in front of a Mac running a 64-bit version of iTunes today, they'd never know it. So the "OMG WHY ISN'T ITUNES 64-BIT YET?" stuff is a little ridiculous.
NOT little, it is ridiculous. Although, i wanna see a snappier cocoa 32bit/64-bit itunes.
