Sharing apps across iTunes libraries? The consumer in me says "Yay! I can share apps with my wife and play some of her games." The developer in me says "Thanks for changing the licensing for my own app without telling me!"

Is it just me, but are the gradients on iTunes 9 f**king dreadful?

There's a dirty dark line that runs right along the top of my version here, and it's really noticeable on the time ticker bar in the top "info window" section.

If I tilt my iMac forward as far as it'll go it's really, really noticeable.

It's not just you - it is very cheap looking. It looks like a bad skin mod. Also grid view is now white - WHY?!?!?! it looked fine before

plus, WHERE THE F**K IS 64BIT!?!?! Windows gets it - why not us? - esp. after Snow Leopard - I WANT 64BIT!!!!

I bet I'm not the only one who's concerned that the UI of iTunes 9 is indicative of the way Apple is taking the GUI...If so I'm definitely going to be wary of further updates, iTunes 9 is hideous, I'm considering downgrading.

More closed captioning?

Since closed captioning for TV shows and movies seems to be the exception, rather than the rule, at Apple, I wonder if iTunes 9 will make this more of a priority. I'd buy a lot more shows and movies through iTunes if they had closed captioning. Just a handful of shows do. I can still hear, but it can be sketchy (I'm partially deaf), and the closed captioning really helps me a lot.

Until this happens, it's just hard to get excited about iTunes, unless it's about the app store (how about cleaning out all the duplicates from the store?).

Don't know if this is new in iTunes 9 or not, but the About window has a copyright noticed that includes Blu-Ray along with the other standards inside iTunes.

Surely this means something?

Anyone get this error when installing?

I received this error when installing iTunes 9 on my MB 13" unibody running 10.6 Snow Leopard. The install did finish and say "complete" with the green check mark. Just wanted to see if anyone else had this same problem or what this error means. Thanks guys!

i really like the new itunes 9 store layout. But, i cant seem to where all the new ringtones are. You used to be able to see which songs could be ringtones but now it doesnt show you.

Has anyone had a problem with this as well??

You can swith to the Mini-Player by ALT-Clicking the green button.

But that zoom fuction in iTunes 9 is really dumb, it centers the window, leaving a small gap on the sides and a large gap on the top and bottom. Hovever, the iTunes is covered by the dock (Snow Leopard) which is really stupid.

Ow well, at leas the playlist browser scrolls nicely now and I don't need to hide tha artwork thingy to reach to the bottom playlists.

The look is a little unimpressive - why the subtle changes each revision I don't know. Mini-player on option-green rather than simply green is annoying, but resizing behaviour is thus more consistent with the Windows version, lol.

Link to Windows download offers "64-bit installer" link, which is broken at the mo. Would be nice if the Mac one had 64-bit, whatever that would really mean :).

Download information in mini-player is nice! 41 mins remaining on iPhone update download. Applications pane loads faster, 10x5 fitted grid layout is an improvement.

iTunes Store browsing ... browsing? Seriously they decided that's the best way? No within-genre recommendations on the App Store, just 'page 1 of 694' of games? Damn.

iTunes Dashboard Widget STILL doesn't work, 5 years, two OS X versions and 3 iTunes versions later. Damn.

To my knowledge im not talking rubbish, hence why its my opinion. thus i said "personally i like it", you dont have to like my view on the itunes look lol, but you can respect it much like i will respect the fact that you "DONT" like it. Im just mildly surprised that there are so many people who dont like it.

I think the white grid view, doesnt look any worse than the grey one that was there before hand, as i said personal preference- we all got different strokes.

Last time i checked, itunes wasnt professional, its a media player, is there a degree of how a music/video/radio player should look?
hmm..

PTP

Ok, rubbish was a strong term ... but then you shouldn't be telling people to keep "stum" if they don't like something, after all it's their opinion as you said.

By professional, I mean in it's appearance. iTunes 8 did have a degree of polish to it, but iTunes 9 genuinely to me looks unfinished, almost like it's got one final phase of coding to go through, it just feels really ... unfinished, lol.

Well I guess you don't understand how the feature works, you can have 5 computers authorized on one itunes account, and download and share any media, music, and apps across all 5 of those accounts. All this feature does is allow shared libraries to download content from other libraries through iTunes without having to manually copy the content. You wont loose any money as a dev.

homeshare - excellent

itunes9, nice refresh of the UI, homeshare is the big new feature for me.

Now I can keep our iMac, 2 x MacBooks and MacMini media center in sync!. Installed itunes9 on my macbook, enabled homeshare and it immediately listed 200+ tracks that were on the iMac and not on the MacBook..they are transfering over now.

Why the hell do I need to option click the plug button to go the mini player? Why on earth would they change that. How unbelievably irritating!

Sync iPhoto Videos with iPhone and iPod Touch

Sorry if it's been mentioned already, but just noticed you can now sync iPhoto videos with your iPhone instead of just your photos

But before I couldn't share apps between my wife and I even though we're both authorized on each other's computers. Before if I, say pulled Bejeweled from her and stuck it in my library it would toss out an "this application cannot be installed on this device" error.

I see its 64 bit. I thought the update would of brought 64 bit to iTunes. Ah well.

You see wrong - It is still 32 bit :( on the Mac at least. Windows does have a 64 bit though - it was ben around since iTunes 8.

I like that I can now sync iPhoto's faces to my iPhone.

Oh and the store is now actually usable and responsive. I like it:
