Great, just one little issue

It's great! I got a ~7% increase in FPS when playing Sauerbraten. The only issue is that Santa Software's MainMenu doesn't support 10.4.9 at the moment. Can't wait for Leopard! :apple: :D

Hmmm...ichat supports external UVC webcams? Do I smell a new iSight coming soon?

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST!

No.

All Macs ( except PowerMacs ) come with built in isights, so there isn't a very big market for an iSight anymore.

My CD macbook is fine. Got abit of a scare with the optical drive, but it now works fine if I hold it down abit.

isight works again

I've been waiting for this update for a little over a month, ever since my built in isight camera in my 17" core duo MBP. short story kept short- my camera works again:D :apple:

Mac Pro (you mentioned PowerMac) and mac mini...the mac mini is the kind of computer for those who like fun stuff like videochat, not pros, so a camera would be cool. Also, Photo Booth is included with Leopard, useless for mac mini and Mac Pro users, without some kind of extra...maybe integrated into the ACDs, but a lot of people just want a cheaper display from another company...

Downloaded and restarted. I hope if fixes the problems I've been having with my bluetooth mouse not connecting after I wake my system from the sleep mode.

I still think Leopard isn't going to be ready until June. Besides, Apple otherwise wouldn't have anything major to unveil at the WWDC.

That's not a worry at all, just hold down 'Menu' on your remote control on start up. Choose Machintosh HD, then when you log in choose System Prefs > Startup Disk > Click on the Machintosh HD folder. This problem shouldn't happen again now.

Sounds great but did not work, it keeps shutting down and then when i start it again i get the same folder with Qmark again

Okay, this is what I can see:

  • Built in speakers are about twice as loud, or around that.
  • iPhoto loads in a TINY fraction of the time and is very very very very snappy (unlike before).
  • Anything Quartz related seems to be faster. Genie effect is a billion times smoother. Dashboard seems snapper & better. Doesn't stutter in on first load.
  • Exposé seems quicker, possibly due to Quartz improvements (although nothing abotu Quartz is said by Apple, the ATI/NVidia drivers could be Quartz Extreme related).
  • You now need to hold down the eject key for a short period of time to eject the disc. Improvement as I have accidentally hit the eject key a few times in the past two weeks while typing out essays etc...

One little thing I was really hoping they would fix (although this might be an iTunes problem), is CoverFlow. It was brilliant with the original pre-Apple software, however since Apple bought it and stuck it into iTunes, it's been dog slow. If you scroll right through your albums then it judders and sometimes halts up for a second or two. I know it's a problem when it needs to load 500+ front covers, but still, the original managed to do it...

Is still can't see the iphoto update. Apart from that, no noticeable differences in performance or otherwise.

Oh, that change in the eject key was a brilliant idea!

from the post right above:
"-Anything Quartz related seems to be faster. Genie effect is a billion times smoother. Dashboard seems snapper & better. Doesn't stutter in on first load.
-Exposé seems quicker"

Just noticed, and I can confirm that. Great!

Hack: How to use Apple Aperture for D-Lux2/3 RAW files

http://www.outbackphoto.com/reviews/equipment/leica_m8/Leica_M8_review.html#20070220
This is modified for the M8, but it was originally written for D-Lux 2/3.
HOWEVER, I have NOT tried it myself, so I cannot guarantee anything.
Basically, you are on your own.

On a side note, I do agree it is mind-boggling that Apple hasn't included support for Leica D-Lux. M8 has been out for three months now and still no support. D-Lux 3 is more or less identical to D-Lux 2 (arrived 17 months ago).

Someone should be fired...

Lame. That camera has been out for over 6 months now.

Thanks for trying though.

another successful update with no problems on my imac G5, powerbook 17 and macbook.

Volumes are hugely increased...very loud now
boot times normal after 2nd boot

eject button needs to be held for a second instead of a tap...better in my opinion

all good

Digital XMPCR & Digital Audio has big problems

I have a Digital XMPCR radio with Edirol MA-20D Digital speakers

I now have major audio problems, the audio is garbled and doesn't sound as strong. Kinda like a FM radio in a car that is loosing signal when you are traveling.

I use this XMPCR for a couple of hours a day and had no problems this morning prior to installing the update.

I have a XMPCR that was modified for Toslink/Digital connection. I connect the XMPCR to my Mac Pro 2.66 with toslink cables and connect my Edirol MA-20D digital speakers with toslink cables. I use Amoeba's "LineIn" for audio pass through.

I thought it might me the FTDIUSBSerialDriver so I reinstalled it, did not fix the problem.

I also have a real bad "buzzing" sound going on in the background. When I quit JXM (the application for changing channels on the XMPCR), the "buzzing" goes away but I have a rapid ticking sound coming out of the speakers until I quit LineIn.

Anyone else have any problems with their digital audio input/outputs?

Just installed the update on my 24" iMac. All went well except the icons for my external FireWire HDD icons.

(Larger Image)

I can't figure out how to get them back to the standard Firewire icons short of putting custom icons in there. Anyone know what those icons are for? They almost look like SD cards or something?

Otherwise, all good!

Big improvement; i seem to hit the eject button at least once per day when aiming for the delete key - luckily i rarely have a disc in the drive, but now it should be no problem. :)
