PMG5 Quad Problems - 17" MBP CD No Problems... yet

So far, the main problem with my PMG5 Quad is the optical drive Eject key not working as others have stated. I'm using an Apple BT Wireless Keyboard.

I also use a second Apple BT Wireless Keyboard with my 17" MBP Core Duo and the eject key works just fine their after the update.

I'm very disappointed that Apple could let such an obvious bug through their QA.

What's the best way to report this to Apple so they can get it fixed quickly? Not being able to open the optical drive bay to insert a disk is going to be a problem.

  • Resolves an issue in which iCal reminders may appear off to the side of the screen.

I so totally thought that was just me, or maybe something funny with You Control: Desktops. One day it just started happening, but I can't think if it started right after an update or what. Anyway, I'll be glad to see that fixed. I've had reminders sit off to the side of the screen for forever before I notice them there. :D

My Mabook CD doesn't seem much (if any) louder. Certainly nothing very dramatic for me anyway.

I also have a Macbook CD, and even tho the maximum volume is almost the same, I can have the volume at minimum and hear my music. Before it had to be at mid-volume (or more) for me to be able to hear.

But it may have been that only some MB's had the problem.

Also, anyone knows if Samsung CELL-PHONES are now supported with iSync??

USB Web Cams

so i installed 10.4.9 and everything worked out fine and i then hooked up my xbox live vision cam to my mini and it worked out fine

for some reason my update failed-after i got the installer out of the trash i couldnt click on it so i rebooted and now i cant get past the loading screen-any ideas??

I'm in the same boat as you. My update was corrupt and gave me an error, and I've been stuck at the loading screen for a while. I'm currently trying to fix it - I'll let you know when I am done.

Is this new? This would have been nice back in December so I could have gotten my parents a cheaper webcam instead of an iSight for video chat. Of course, Apple must have known what they were doing, getting that holiday revenue up. ;)

Well now that they're not selling the iSight anymore (last I heard) it makes sense to add USB camera support at this time :D I bought one too not too long before the iSight integrated systems came out, wound up giving it to a relative with a Rev.A iMac G5.

The PhotoBooth effects on my 15" 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro are glitchy and some dont want to work at all. Anyone else having this problem??

Zapped all the ram there is to zapp, nothing chances, no the apple manual suggets that i re install, hell no , not until i tried 10 other things, i don't wanna spend alot of time reinstalling all my apps again , damn.
You don't have to erase all your apps when you reinstall. Just do a standard install (not erase & install) with your existing disk, then run the combo updater and you will be as good as gold.

The other thing you could do is connect your machine to another Mac in Firewire target disk mode. Run the stand alone combo updater and select your laptops drive as the destination. Just doing that will generally fix your problems.

Slow...

Did anyone else expierence lagging while downloading the update??

Am I going to notice any changes after the update? Is it going to be worth it?

I have installed 10.4.9 on my MBP CD ... 99.3Mb file. All seems fine.

Boot time seems slower, not sure why. I have restarted a couple of times, zapped the PRAM, still seems slower than it has been before. Ho hum!

my c2d macbook choked .. .it said unknown erorr reinstall the update ...

should have said reinstall os 10.4.8 .. cuz thats what i have been forced to do now ... the mac just wouldnt boot .. another member mooey has got the same problem as me ..

pathetic.

I just updated and had no issues. I can confirm a significant volume increase on my machine. :)

10.2.8 was released on October 3, 2004, followed by the release of 10.3 on October 24 (21 days later).

10.3.9 was released April 15, 2005 followed by the release of 10.4 14 days later, on April 29.

Leopard must be close.

Also, 10 + 4 + 9 = 23!
Leopard must be close!

Just kidding but you can't always judge releases like that.

i just updated and my c2d mbp seems fine. i can confirm that the volume is much higher now than it was before 10.4.9. i haven't had any problems with photo booth either. this update seems good so far.

Well successful update again for me. Per the complaints in this thread I tried out the eject button to see what was going on. I tapped it like I always did and nothing, tried the same method again and the result was the same. If you hold the button for just a second or so more it ejects. I think this is actually a plus, since it helps to prevent anyone from accidentally ejecting a disc. This isn't a common occurrence for me, but it's happened before. I doubt this is a glitch, but if it is, it's a serendipitous one. I haven't tried restarting after the initial restart after updating so I don't know what effect it has on that right now. But everything else seems to be in order. I'll see how everything else works out eventually. But so far so good :D

Have you noticed slighty different color at startup screen? More blueish, I think. Check it. Or, maybe I have something with my eyes. :)

Also, iSync now support Motorola K1.

So far, good update.

No. But in other bad news, Finder is still a POS when it comes to networking. Nay, its a POS period.
