I have a macbook core duo 1.8 & I noticed 2 things.

1) Coverflow in iTunes is now more fluid. It doesn't seem to stuck anymore. ( It's not true, just a coincedence!)
2) Before I had trouble connecting an external monitor in some situations. (It is surely true.I tested it again&again)
Now it works flawlessly.

Can anyone confirm these?

Not a hope without nVidia's blessing and they don't seem to want to support SLI on an intel board. Bit of a waste of money really...

I'm not asking for SLi, but at the moment, only when i boot under windows do I have support for my Big Card, the Mac only gets to use the 7300 which I put in a slot throttled down to 8x. I mean, the nVidia drivers are fairly generic, I'd just like to be able to remove one card and still be able to use QE/CI acceleration.

okay, maybe it's just me but after the system update (ibook g4), I had problems with my wireless connection. I never had any problem before this update.

-The connection is lost after a wake-up from sleep.
-Some website (google, yahoo emails) just keep loading and spinning (and it never says the connection could not be establish, it just keep looking and looking).
-A few times, I was surfing and all of a sudden, I'm not connected the the network (LAN) anymore.
:(

I know it's sounds more like a Airport problem (or even a Router problem) but my two other computers (intel) just work fine...

I didn't have the airport update on my ibook, maybe that's part of the problem...

Anybody else had similar issues? What's your input? Airport or no airport?

Thanks

I began having problems with wireless connection after the last two updates, more so with my MacBook Pro than with my Powerbook, but this update seems to have fixed my problems (keeping fingers crossed).

intelimac

On my original intel imac, I getting a lot of beach balls. I NEVER got the beach balls before,

Is there some breaking period for SW updates, cause this would be annoying if it continues.

Takes a long time to open apps, and clicking on web links, I get the beach balls.

If I remember correctly .9 is said to fix shortcut....well command+option+esc does no longer work. (Sleep shortcut)

Huge CRASH this morning!

Updated to 10.4.9 yesterday after over a year of vowing NEVER to update from 10.4.3 after 10.4.4 killed a couple of iPods and made some other changes important to me. I'm on a Rev E PB G4 1.67Ghz

So.. 10.4.9,...

Well. All fine and dandy to begin with - really enjoying iTunes 7 with coverflow etc.

Then this morning, I opened up an .mpg and I had a huge staccato sound crash. I'd just like to emphasise that this was MUCH worse than the old sound problem that Rev E PB's were suffering (and which was apparently fixed by 10.4.5 or 6 or so, I think). With 10.4.3, mine only rarely suffered the looping sound during playback, and when it did, the looping stopped after just a few seconds.

This 10.4.9 crash completely brought my PB to its knees. I could not force-quit Quicktime (the menu would not come up), nor could I even turn down the sound volume. After about 15 minutes I eventually managed to to get the system to restart.

All I can say is: "sod's law".

Anybody else have this problem? This thread is far too long to read it all. :)

sod's law?

Anywho... 10.4.9 has been running pretty good on my Mac Pro for the last day or two.

It seems that the Apple bluetooth mouse I have paired with it works ALOT better now... anyone else noticed similar benefits with BT?

Font Fix

Hello,

This update caused me an annoying problem. :( Some of my messages are now unreadable. See pic below:

Anyone having the same problem?

That is a font issue with Helvetica Fractions.
Simply open Fontbook and disable Helvetica Fractions and all will work as advertised.

HTH,
Scott

My Internet Doesn't work!

 Since I updated with MAC OS X 10.4.9, from the moment I restarted, I havn't been able to connect to the wireless network...

It runs fine in bootcamp (windows)

Any ideas guys?

Matt

Wrong.

Repairing permissions when there's a problem to solve isn't voodoo but repairing permissions as a matter of course is.

All clear now?

There is compelling but anecdotal evidence on both sides. There's no need to get worked up about it. :) Have a nice day.

Two Restarts

My C2D MBP 17" upgrade went without a hitch, although I did not get the *huge* volume boost others have.

My Rev B imac G5 2ghz rebooted itself twice after the initial restart, but it now seems happy. No other issues to report either good or bad. (not even a snappier ;) )

Cheers All

Gotcha.. I've only needed to "Repair Disk" when a hard drive was on its last legs and seriously failing (invalid tree forks or somesuch). However, I've seen many cases where permissions repair actually set things straight. It seems that there's compelling but anecdotal evidence on both sides of this issue.

Even Macworld has acknowledged the validity of repairing permissions, although sometimes it might not help. People saying that they are voodoo are people that read only one side of the story, the side that they wish to support...in other words, their "knowledge" is also voodoo.

working fine

I have updated my iBook G4 and everything is working fine. I had the issue of the off-the-screen ical alarms with 10.4.8 and now it is fixed. I haven't noticed any other change. I like updates! :)

Updated

My Macbook Pro 2.0 seems to be running a little smoother. I haven't had as many unexpected crashes and all seems well. :)

I will ADMIT to one thing, my PowerPC has seemed noticablely more STABLE (not faster) than my Intel, but I'm sure a lot of things will change as time goes on as well as when Leopard is released.

I share in your enthusiasm :D

I have to say that with a stock Macbook 10.4.8 install (purchased in late Jan), I'm not seeing any of the spectacular changes everyone is so excited about :(

My volume didn't seem to get a big boost nor do apps seem to launch any faster; oh well, I guess I can't really complain since it's miles faster than my old G4/1.0...

I feel that repair disk permissions should never be required due to an Apple update. Why would they be wrong? They have no clue what they should be?

I can see it for a 3rd party installation, but if needed due to an Apple install, then we should be bitching big time.
