Well, I still have video stuttering issues in Front Row and iTunes :(

Videos no longer stutter in Quicktime X though. I know FR and iTunes uses QT, so it makes no sense :confused::confused:

I think I may go back to Leopard

What a pitiful retort that was. As long as your hard drive isn't a factory lemon or isn't surge protected they don't just randomly die.

The Apple delete data bug is inexcusable, the Time Capsule fail-to-backup bug is inexcusable.

But this statement is not true. Hard drives DO randomly die. Which is to say, most will last a long time, but it is unknowable which ones won't.

Anybody knows when Apple is going to update the retail SL disc? Is it still 10.6.0?
I would assume they are starting production tomorrow on the new 10.6.2 discs. Unless Apple is REALLY stupid/arrogant.

Have fun backing up terabytes upon terabytes amount of hard drive space.
If you have that much data, backups would seem even more important. There are two kinds of hard drives; those that have failed and those that will fail.

...not to make light of the serious guest account software issue in 10.6.1.

10.6.2 disables mail attachment iconizer!

Well, it still works for me. The behavior did not change. Try attach things that are not PDF. You should see the difference then.

When you attach PDF, right click it -> view as icon. :)

Which is why I stated that they last until good time.

Right, but not everyone under the sun knows to back up their computer or that they even have to. The only time they will most likely get educated is after a problem occurs.

things are faster on a 2.2 Blackbook with 4 gb ram.

apps open in fewer bounces since the update.

OK, (maybe a) stupid question time...

What is the difference between the normal update of OS X 10.6.2 and this "Combo" version (apart from the size)?

Combo rolls up everything that was patched in 10.6.1 also. So, that's what you would get if you have 10.6.0 installed.

Sorry, but before I install either, can you or anyone else explain that to me in Layman Terms? (I'm using SL 10.6.1 btw)

Thanks

Somehow, I think that is as close that you will come to saying you were wrong. So sure...
Get off your high horse and settle down. I'll admit I made a typo and forgot to add to what I stated. Cry me a god damn river.

Anyone with a Yonah (Core Duo) based machine brave enough to try it?

B

I guess I did. Mac Intel 17" Code Duo 1.83 early 2006. Now on 10.6.2

Personally I have never had any problems updating that weren't caused by third party apps & therefore easily fixed by uninstalling them.
Have also always updated as soon as a new OS was available and have had no problems with any of them including Snow Kitty.

OSX10.3 >> OSX10.4
OSX10.4 >> OSX10.5
OSX10.5 >> OSX10.6

Not a fanboy ~ wrong age & sex. :p
Good backups are a No Brainer.

iChat Hangs on launch with 10.6.2

Since installing 10.6.2, I can't open iChat without it hanging immediately. Driving me nuts. Switching back to 10.6.1

much less beachball and much less safari/finder/everything crashing all the time
Very impressed so far :apple:

the combo update will upgrade any version of 10.6.x to the latest. however the normal update you download via software update requires you to have the last update, ie: 10.6.1 in this case.

eg: using the combo update for 10.5.8, you can use the update on a system running any version of 10.5.x. however the normal update downloaded via software update requires you to have the last version of the operating system before the release of the latest version. ie: 10.5.7

was i any better? :p

Just tried it. Working fine.

What's with all these assorted, variety-show bugs? One person has iChat hanging, the other's is fine. Another has Safari crashing on PDF prints, the other's is fine.
