Badd Update

im having major problems, no audio coming from my macbook 15" 2.16ghz speakers or headphones. fix?? i tried zapping the pram, safe book and repairing permission and still having the problem

MR users are spoiled, even if it took 2 days you guys would whine...Apple is THE BEST company in terms of responding to feedback and requested features..! GO APPLE!

Good evening my favorite Macbot in the world! Thank you for your enlightening comments as always. :D

I so loved this update! It fixed my wireless dropping connections! I can now go back to using my macbook all around my house!

much less beachball and much less safari/finder/everything crashing all the time
Very impressed so far :apple:

I have only had Safari crash twice since launch day. How come some people have next to no issues while others seem to have real issues.
I am glad to see Safari working well with the top sites again. They gotta step up their testing in house. Really.

Did you do a clean install or upgrade? I'm taking a mental tally. :D

the combo update will upgrade any version of 10.6.x to the latest. however the normal update you download via software update requires you to have the last update, ie: 10.6.1 in this case.

eg: using the combo update for 10.5.8, you can use the update on a system running any version of 10.5.x. however the normal update downloaded via software update requires you to have the last version of the operating system before the release of the latest version. ie: 10.5.7

was i any better? :p

100% clear now - Thanks ;)

Occam's Razor: Have you checked the Sound settings in the System preferences?

Any news on Adobe Fireworks stability?

My guess is it is mostly Adobe's fault, but goodness me is Fireworks flaky on Mac OS 10.6. Any info would be gratefully accepted.

Just tried it. Working fine.

What's with all these assorted, variety-show bugs? One person has iChat hanging, the other's is fine. Another has Safari crashing on PDF prints, the other's is fine.

Good question. No clue what's up, but it's driving me nuts. Trying second restart per *LTD*'s suggestion. Crossing my fingers.

::UPDATE::
HAHAHA! Restarting second (technically third, if you count the auto-restart from updating) fixed the crashing issue. Will play around more to see about system also being snappier.

Apple remote issues

Mine works, but only in iTunes and FrontRow. It used to work in VLC, EyeTV, Plex, and others but would launch iTunes every time you pressed play. Now it doesn't do anything at all in those programs. Maybe it is fixed on Apple's end and we have to wait for the VLC and others to update their software...
Same problem here. Apparently Apple doesn't want their remote functioning with just any old software. Very un-green of them. It promotes more remotes which eventually end up in landfills.

Yeah, same for me. We need to make this more obvious...

WARNING: 10.6.2 disables GrowlMail
That's the risk of using unsupported APIs. If Apple wanted you making plugins for Mail, they'd publish the calls.

I really hope this fixes all my networking headaches and the stupid duplicate email problems. Oh, and for some reason SL has stopped recognizing USB drives after a day or so of uptime. The fact that "graphic distortions in Safari top 10" makes the highlights doesn't fill me with confidence...

We'll see when I get home.

Well, for me, 10.6.2 just made Snow Leopard usable. :D It's finally "snappy" and it no longer chokes on animations (Expose, Dashboard, Time Machine, etc). Maybe they updated the GMA 950 driver?

I'm running a Core 2 Duo 2Ghz MacBook (Late 2006) with 2GB of RAM and a 320GB 7200 RPM hard drive.

Anyone else having a freeze problem at about 75% through install stage? Been stuck there for a good while now with no progress...

FWIW, the speed of the animations you mentioned has stayed about the same for me, on a Macbook Core Duo 2Ghz (Early 2006). Exposé still becomes a stop-motion animation with about 3 frames as soon as a few windows have been opened/minimized.

So, you're saying that someone running 10.6.0 cannot update to 10.6.2 via Software Update?

This is not true. In this case, Software Update will offer a cumulative update to bring the Mac up to 10.6.2.

holy crap 10.6.2 is nice. I now have PathFinder, Mail, Twitterrifc, iCal, Things, iTunes, TinyGrab and ShoveBox start on Login and the computer doesn't hang at all. In fact it all, including iTunes, launches instantly.

Just noticed that now instead of appearing as stripes the top sites appear as a low res pixellated picture.

I installed it about two hours ago. It fixed the one major problem I had. Word and Mail were crashing whenever I used spotlight to attach a document or any file. It now works with no problem. I am now happy with my upgrade. First time since I got Snow Leopard.
