Same, never had a problem with Vista. Certainly never encountered anything that annoyed me blatantly and consistently and never got fixed. Unlike with OS X where I still have the broken iTunes dashboard widget (since 10.4.0 = over 5 years) and the broken stack sorting (since july if not longer) to keep me not quite happy. So yes, I would disagree with anyone saying SL = Vista because I have more issues with SL.

I am planning to boot camp 7 on my Mac mini when official support comes through though, maybe I'll find some issues there :).

Meantime, maybe 10.6.3?

I can see where this monstrous bug would really prohibit you from being productive and getting any work done on your computer.

Bah this still hasn't sorted out the graphics problem on my GMA X3100 chipset MacBook :(

Yep, still glitches galore. Appreciate the speed increase (finally living up to the hype of Snow Leopard), but the tearing and artifacts look like rank amateurism from Cupertino. Shocking.

I can see where this monstrous bug would really prohibit you from being productive and getting any work done on your computer.

Stop making excuses. If it were a similar bug on Windows, the fanbois would be describing Windows as "Unusable" and "Hell in software form" or "Just so much harder to use than OSX".

Doesn't make it any less true. The only way something can improve is to come into terms with its faults. A bug in a program, A UI inconsistency, a raging drug addiction, self esteem issues, a car engine that leaks oil.

I know 90% of the world doesn't realize this, but its still true. People even do it without noticing it.
There's a difference between coming to terms with the faults and fixating on them.

I hate them too earlier all my apps would fit now I have to scroll. Imagine how huge they are on the new 27" Imac.

You have no idea what you are talking about!
The icons are sized by pixels, therefore on the new 27 inch iMac they are actually SMALLER as the screen has a very high density pixel count.

It's not your machine, it is whether you are updating from 10.6.0 or 10.6.1.

The Delta update (10.6.1 - 10.6.2) is smaller.

You are incorrect.

Both my machines were on 10.6.1

The iMac had a 499.9 MB download and the MacBook had a 157MB download.

It is NOT related to the OS version in use, it is related to the hardware in use and the drivers / updates required for each model.

Not true. It may work, but so far I wouldn't have called Snow Leopard really stable. FAR too many crashes, bugs and beachballs. So far, so good on 10.6.2. 10.5.2 was a major update for Leopard and I hope the same holds true for Snow Leopard.

For me SL has been really stable. 2 machines have been updated since its release and none have the issue you list.

Well, I am just gonna take the first post because the rest of the complaints is pretty much subjective BS.

Cons.
No video as desktop function - DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS.
Quicktime options gone. - You don't need them, but if you want you can install a separate pref pane.
That damn beach ball. - NONE here.
Safari crashing at way too often. - Safari crashed only once in 2 months.
Damn beach ball again - NONE here.
Safari taking longer to load pages. - WRONG.
Beach ball again - NONE here.
Trash and the securely delete function. What exactly was wrong with 'empty trash' then disk utility erase function? - BS.
IDVD, taking 30 to 40% longer to burn disk. (this one really takes the !!!!) - DON'T USE IT.
Opening applications takes longer. Boring!!!!! - WRONG.
Beach ball yet again - NONE here.
Systems hangs a lot more. There's that flaming beach ball again - NONE here.

Net result? ZERO problems.

I am very impressed by your level of good fortune. Others experiencing troubles may ask 'Why'... then may look at their configurations and still might not find the answer...then they perhaps blame the code in order to find the answer... and might even believe to have found the cause of the problem in the software or hardware...

However... this only explains 'How' they are experiencing their troubles... Perhaps 'Why' takes a little deeper digging being careful not to mistaken how for why ;)

(Bug free...hopefulleeee)

it didnt fix my flickering macbook unibody.
still small and annoying flicker when using battery power.
it is the last time i buy an apple product.
A 400$ laptop has a better screen then this macbook.

Bye, went to ebay to sell this ****.........

Have you taken the machine to an Apple Store and shown them the problem?
Or are you just a troll?

I 100% agree with you. It's just too much... that comment was not the reality of what has happened to people using/installing Snow Leopard. There are major problems, and it has affected most of us who chose to be "beta testers" with Snow Leopard 10.6 and 10.6.1. The problem is Apple has a long way to go... I would have preferred Apple waited until today when Snow Leopard would have been closer to ready.

Let's all pray that 10.6.2 will start fixing problems, but I fear we have a long way to go before Snow Leopard is truly ready for release.

To ALL of those with PPCs, you saved yourself a big headache by not having to (feeling you have to at least) "downgrade" your OS to Snow Leopard.

I really believe that Microsoft is headed in the right direction with Windows 7, and that Apple is headed in the wrong direction with OS X. Seems that both have learned from each other's pasts. I love the iPhone and iPods, but I really wish Apple was still a "COMPUTER" company.

You are incorrect. SL has not affect 'most of us'. Many millions have no issues at all.

Reading through this thread makes me realise how incredibly sad a lot of people on these forums are. Stuff like:

"Jesus Christ? I think you'll find his name is Steve"
"I'm SOOO happy!"
"GO APPLE"
"157.7 - late 2007 MBP... see y'all in a few mins!"

It's an OS update for a computer. Get a life people.

So far so good... It'll probably be a while before I can say where it's fixed all my little problems though.

One thing I noticed is that the bug with icons sometimes showing up at very low resolution is not fixed.

THINGS THAT 10.6.2 SEEMS TO HAVE FIXED FOR ME:

Mail is hanging on to my drafts more than it should. I use gmail with imap and often but not always when I compose and email message it will save a version of my message in drafts even though I didn’t save it and I have completed and sent the message. The complete message shows in my sent box but the other version of the message is saved in drafts.
Wow, I hope that is fixed and not just a coincidence. This has happened to me a lot too, not with Gmail but with a different IMAP server. Very frustrating!

THINGS THAT WERE WRONG IN 10.6.1 BUT I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO RECREATE YET (SO MAYBE FIXED):

Sometimes the trash will look empty even though there are things in it and the option to empty it is grayed out from the dock icon but the finder menu will still work.
Definitely not fixed. It happened to me right after installing 10.6.2. I actually thought it was a new bug until I saw your post.

In Mail when I right click on an email address and copy address it not only copies the address but also the name associated with the address and the address is in < > which makes it hard to use unless I delete out the name and the brackets.
Not a bug, it's a feature. There's an easy fix if you prefer the old behavior:
http://macdaddyworld.com/2009/09/14/fixing-copy-address-in-mail-on-10-6/

1. it fixed remote desktop "black screen" problem
Ah, good to hear! Haven't confirmed that one myself yet, but it's been frustrating when it happens.

it´s like the smilies on the iphone, people want it and the phone has it, but still you have to find a workaround to add it unless you live in Japan...
Emoji are proprietary and were not designed, from a technical standpoint, to be a standard feature. They may not have the rights to do it either. That said, they are working with Google on an emoji standard which is pretty awesome. I'd love to see support not just on the iPhone but in OS X and other operating systems as well.

Can't Drag-n-Drop from Safari to Adobe PS

Anyone else out there that know any news on the whole drag n drop problem. It's all over the place. I use it all the time, so it's really starting to become rather annoying. If any developing news, PLEASE let us know if you know anything.

What a pitiful retort that was. As long as your hard drive isn't a factory lemon or isn't surge protected they don't just randomly die.

Oh yes they do. By the way, do they tell you that you have a factory lemon when you buy them?

10.6.2 KILLED MY WINDOWS BOOTCAMP PARTITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cant boot into bootcamp. i get a disk cannot be read error

OSX cant mount the partition with disk utility.

what the F***!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed totally as I have had several HD's suddenly die over the years. I have also bought a new one only to be dead when I got it home and hooked it up.

I now have two backups just as a safe guard

I think they are just enjoying the moment. In a positive kind of way... Sometimes I think we label people with comments like that (including this one perhaps) as we wish to see them, but in fact do not exist that way from their own side posessing those attributes you describe as 'sad'?!?

Is it just me or the fact that Mac users get excited when 10.6.# update rolls out. I don't see Windows users get happy about when an update comes along and I'm not talking about service packs here.

Thats simply because Windows Service Pack updates always bring useless security features, telling you that your virus software is out of date, extra dialogs for downloading files saying "hey, maybe you shouldn't be using the internet, it can kill you!"

Also, Service Packs never fixed any of the bugs I encountered on Windows, they never did anything noticeable to me, all the annoyances I had always stayed there no matter how many SP-s I installed, and all I noticed in an obvious way was that with each SP, my system just had more and more problems, so I just stopped installing them altogether. Kinda explains why Windows users aren't so excited about updates.

On the other side, Mac users know that the bugs they encounter may actually get fixed in updates.

I'm an Adobe user

Just upgraded from CS3 to CS4 because I was told CS3 was unsupported under SL

Guess what - CS4 is just as bad .. particularly Illustrator, which crashes constantly

You had a year to get it right under SL - so no excuse will do

Your software is WAYYY overpriced and underperforms horribly.

****, Preview is better at manipulating images realtime than PhotoShop (which is a steaming pile of 1994, with bells and whistles squished into it)

NOW - I DON'T CARE ABOUT WHY - JUST FIX IT ADOBE !!

yes, this Illustrator crashing and BB'ing for me was my last straw. I still have 10.6.2 on a partition of my HDD, but its status is now "experimental" while a fresh install of 10.5.8 is back on my production machine, which is also my daily driver.

10.6.2 was not the holy water I was hoping for (though I had a hunch this update would not be the all-star update most were desiring), and may have caused a few new problems for some. Apple is concentrating heavily on the iPhone and soon to be iTablet (or whatever it is called).

New rules: (for the most part), Windows 7 is the OS for desktops and hi-powered laptops OS X is the OS for mobile devices and the soon to arrive category-buster, the previously mentioned iTablet. I really wonder how many with macpros and macbooks and iMacs will attempt to run Windows 7 as their main OS? Microsoft, get ready for some switchers!
