At least it fixed the guitar sound through my Line6 Toneport. The sound has been terrible since I updated to SL. Good to know it was not only because of my playing skills . . .

Does the size of this update mean we're starting to give back all the space created when we first installed Snow Leopard?

I mean for what looks like a small list of changes this is a massive file. Should a bunch of code corrections and a few additions to the existing OS really involve that much megabyteage?

EDIT: Also anyone know if it fixes the ocassionally and randomly broken '3 fingers to jump up and down a page' trackpad feature?

Because 5 people reported issues that no one else seems to be having? Come on...

No... it's just more fun waiting for an update. When the update is out though, it goes so fast and after you're all like... all that waiting and I don't notice anything different.

Seriously, Snow Leopard is Apple's most solid OS ever and it's been running flawless for me on 10.6.2.

Do you really think it's ADDING on all of those MB? Have you thought of maybe most of that is replacing old files, so therefore taking up the same amount of space?

New files will take the place of the old files.

Pretty massive OpenGL performance improvements:

So I wonder why Call of Duty 4 runs so crappy now?

I sent off an email to Aspyr to see what they have to say. With my Radeon 4870, COD4 should run maxed out without even breaking a sweat!

I have it for the PS3 and it runs like a dream. :D

It ran like a dream on 10.6.2, AND I could even use all my fingers for playing the game! Not to mention I play it at 1680 X 1050 resolution with 4x anti-aliasing instead of the 1024 x 600 with 2x AA that you are stuck with. :D

I had this before, then upgraded to snow leopard and it went away...after today's update, its back!! The numbers in my inbox message count are not centered and the calendar is messed up as well.

Anyone know what causes it?

Looks like you probably have either a corrupted font, or a duplicate font.

Open up Font Book and Validate all your fonts and check for duplicates. See if that resolves the issue.

-Kevin

EDIT: I had multiple fonts duplicates show up after 10.6.3.

Can't install update - please help!

I have a 24" iMac (May 2009) running 10.6.2, when I try to install 10.6.3 the installer fails and asks me to contact the software vendor.

I've never had an apple update fail before so not sure what to do. Can anyone help?

Not sure if anyone has noticed it but there seem to be some significant OpenGL performance increases.

My MBP has gone from:
87.19 - 110.6 frames/sec on 10.6.2
to
156.74 - 198/84 frames/sec on 10.6.3

My Mac Mini has gone from:
93.30 - 118.35 frames/sec on 10.6.2
to
169.22 - 214.66 frames/sec on 10.6.3

Is anybody experiencing a FASTER bootup but a SLOWER loading Desktop?

In 10.6.2 the whole thing booted pretty much normally but the blue desktop that pops up immediately after the Grey Apple logo is gone seems to remain there for a significant amount of time, also the items on the desktop itself seem to be loading much slower with this update.

And yes, X.6.3 reverts to the “new” expose.

Yeah, I realize that it's lower resolution and the graphics are worse, but the controller is very fun to use. I used to hate FPS with a controller, but once you play a few games, it starts to become natural. Now when I try to play it on the computer, it seems too "twitchy" for me. Pointing and clicking isn't as challenging... anyone can point and click. Also, feeling your finger pull a trigger and feeling the rumble adds to the experience of shooting instead of clicking a mouse with your other hand on some letter keys.

how is that relevant?

It's not relevant at all really.

They don't keep your personal info?

...and what about:
1) if you have a me.com account
2) if you an itunes account
3) if you for some reason use the LocationServices embedded in OsX?

mmmh... don't like it at all...

gp

Not true...

They are not sending out information about crashes... they are very generic on this topic, if you see the last topic of their support page, they state clearly:

So it's easy... 1+1 = ?

They are just collecting system information to improve the OS. MS does the same thing with Windows 7, in fact the information they gained from millions of beta testers using this data collection tool has improved W7 so much from the first public beta to the final release. Apple is just expanding a feature to allow it to be sent automatically. Nothing more.

Does anybody notice that the the kernel has gone back to 32bit from 64bit? I had a 64bit kernel mode and now 32bit. I'm going to have to re-enable it.

Has anyone checked the update to see if it refers to new Macbooks?

That would be interesting. I think it's too soon to have 10.6.3 on new equipment if it is released tomorrow though. Of course if it is announced tomorrow and ships in a week that might be different.

So, kernel panic is not always synonymous with data loss, it just sounds like the OS isn't booting in your case. Have you tried starting in single-user mode or getting disk utility running from your install discs to error-check the drive?

I tried your advice and was able to run disk utility. I logged in from safe mode and ran it from there. I didn't boot it from the cd. I went under first aid and did the verify disk and later said everything was fine. Only when I did permissions did it display something as wrong so I corrected but nothing. I restarted and same problem.

Are you seeing this same message even when running the combo update downloaded from Apple's site?

Crap, <string>arch=x86_64</string> in com.apple.Boot.plist no longer works for enabling 64bit for my MBP.

Anybody have any clue on this?

450mb on my 13" MBP....

.....And, it broke my backlit keyboard.

Seriosuly. Whenever I try to turn on the backlight, I just get the "no can do" rather than a brightness level.

Update went fine.

One thing, though: the Colour profile for OS X was reset. I can't remember what I had it on - ColorMatch or Generic RGB or Adobe RGB 1998.

Which profile is best (or intended) for Snow Leopard?
