i have the GM seed that everybody thought was the final and i opted out the beta programme but my software update is not finding this one. Any ideas how to help?
Also have the GM, then opted out of beta. Not showing up for me, either...

Any one got the build number on the supplemental?

one of the biggest issues with Catalina is that apple killed the mac mini 2018 booting up with an EGPU only monitor, and even in the lastest beta did not fix it yet.

Supplemental updates already?! Really?! I've hated this "idea / naming scheme" ever since Apple introduced it to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Update v1.1. Why they just didn't call it 10.6.9 and leave it at that is beyond me. And now, how many Supplemental Updates have Mojave suffered? Does Update 2 include Update 1? Or do you need both? And here we are, already 10.15.0 has a Supplemental Update.
What a mess.

Looks like it might include a fix for the sudo vulnerability: looks like a new binary and the previous sudoers file was pushed aside/renamed.

Oh and: my download went quickly, no hangups (western US). As other mentions, guessing maybe the servers they are hitting are getting swamped.

Well, they dropped the "X" from the name OS X three years ago and gave us macOS. Maybe next year, we would get iOS 14… and macOS 16, not 10.16. A smaller "supplemental" update like this one released today would make the version 16.0.1. And bigger updates would be 16.1, 16.2, just like on iOS.

I’m really excited to use Catalina but I think I’m going to wait a little while longer. The public beta was okay but with reports of how flakey the general release is, it doesn’t fill me with hope.

Was on the beta
out of the beta
this update doesn't show.

I guess that's because this is a supplemental update and nothing will show until a 'proper' update comes out.

Is there a way to know sure that when you upgrade, it will use this updated installer with the supplemental update integrated, and not the launch version?

Software Update doesn't play nice with GMs after you've left the beta program. Same happens with Xcode. Go to the App Store and download the full release installer, which by now also has this fix. That will get you back in sync.

Already releasing a supplemental update is ridiculous. They should never have shipped macOS Bètalina without these fixes. I mean, a bug that lets the installation hang?! That’s a bug you definitely want to get fixed in the last beta before you ship the final product to your customers who RELY on their iMac’s and MacBooks for work.

Get a Mac. It just works*
(*after supplemental updates)

It seems the update also resolved the issue where the UI smoothness is significantly worse when mirroring the displays instead of extending them. Will need some more testing to be 100% sure.
