Updated dated iPhone x, iPad Pro, and MacBook Pro late 13 this afternoon and have not found a problem on any of the devices....yet.

Can anybody report if the Apple Mail problems were completely fixed with this update?

hi

to you and me (and a lot of other people) this is the major question.
since apple makes no mention of this, its safest to assume that apple is not ready to claim that Mail problems have been fixed.

from my own personal usage, after updating today to the new iOS update (iOS13.1.3) as as well as the new macOS update (macOS 10.15 Supplemental Update), the answer is no the Mail problems are not fixed.

after updating as above, i have experienced the same problems as before these updates.

the Mail problems have not been fixed.

That mail thing occurs on Mojave. I will be full screen and if mail is open it will make it appear as the second window full screen.

I've been having this issue since High Sierra then Mojave but now it happens way less. It's possible it's related to some third party apps like Adobe or others. When I called Apple they're aware of it but they're not doing anything about it.

I just want a decent Preview app. Every macOS update we get a more buggy PDF reader, losing markups and not searching text correctly.

iOS 13 is garbage and so is MacOS 10.15... We are already at 13.1.2 at iOS and it's still buggy. I have to restart my iPhone for notifications to reset. I fell for Catalina because screen time and Arcade for my kids is nice... but wow... I am getting punished for that choice.

Apple may just as well have backed up a garbage truck and dumped it on my lawn... with Tim Cook smirking at me in the side view mirror as he drives away.

If you haven't "upgraded" to Catalina, wait on it. I can't recall Apple's releases being this bad since, well, not ever.

Is there anyone on here that understands why Apple persists in releasing software updates so defective that a deluge of .x updates to infinity are needed within a week or so? Unbelievable!

Yes. It’s because they are on a schedule. And they’re on a schedule because it’s tied to partner operating system iOS. And that’s on a schedule because they insist on bringing out a new iPhone every September.

Catalina is by far the worst OS I have ever had experience with from Apple.
For me, it's sluggish and it is similar to Windows Vista's UAP.

I am running CLion and every time I am attempting Debug mode I need to authorize... I really feel like they borrowed the annoying feature from them.

On top of it, I am having GPU glitches on MBP 2018 15'' plus Safari keeps giving me the beachball ever so often and the whole system becomes slower and slower in time, not to mention that it does take more space than Mojave.

I was hoping this update will fix some of the issues I am having but not really.
It doesn't feel at all like an upgrade overall, I am not sure what I am supposed to experience with it.

Probably this weekend I will roll back to Mojave but Apple - IMHO - dropped the ball with this OS.

It's the other way round for me - Catalina now lets me boot up fine from an eGPU (Sonnet550/Vega56), whereas I never could with Mojave!

Yeah, the eGPU Mac Mini 2018 boot problem (white screen of death) affects Polaris based cards like the RX570/580 only.

I get that but is it really the only way they can do things? The last couple of macOS releases have been quite minor for major releases. I feel like every 2 years would be healthier, or getting rid of the annual release cycle altogether and doing incremental updates that vary in scope, like a modern software company does. They can sync releases of relevant cross-platform features and otherwise release stuff when it’s ready rather than a forced schedule.

With the current method, it seems like they add stuff to each major release just because they have to make it feel new. But often it’s functionality that doesn’t have that much positive impact, yet it causes so much vulnerability as a consequence.

Notes is still not syncing between Mac, iPhone en iPad. All updated. Apple solve this quickly, many users have this problem.

No, it will get even worse thanks to Catalyst. The priority is new iPhone hardware and therefore new iOS. That causes iOS API changes, so with macOS being tied into the iOS API, macOS will have to follow.

Modern software company Microsoft is releasing a new version of Windows every 6 months.

Thank you Apple!

Finally, you've taken care of cleaning up my graveyard of 20 years worth of mails, leaving only the tombstones (headers) of mails, but letting the bodies rot for good.

I was always feeling bad about those several 100k dead (mail) bodies that were lying around, now you've put them to rest in peace.

Thank you.

Next time, could you please be so kind as to consider doing that with my Photos? I really start feeling old looking at me when I was so much younger.

Just remove them.

PS For the necrophiles in this forum, a backup of Mails using Carbon Copy Cloner, and then one-by-one restore of the subfolders of ~/Library/Mail from the backup using Apple Mail's import function, appears to resurrect the mails consistently, including their folder structure. Since resurrection processes historically tend to take three days, I am not concerned that this one is hanging around since a night.

Yes, they are fixed. Also, that fix freed up considerable disk space. Win-Win!

What im really starting to hate about Catalina is the flood of security warnings. Want to download a file? popup. Install a new app? 10 popups. An app wants to access some folder? Popup...

Even to access the freakin' Downloads folder you need to grant access. Also every popup has a completely different layout. Very amateuristic and annoying.

That's a feature, not a bug. It helps you distract from the empty mails that you'd otherwise be concerned about.

Applications response better than on the first release of Catalina. Everyone should update. But some of my folder icons are still white paper..... what's wrong ?

That were just thesis anyway, so it was ok to remove them.

Only true documents remain.

We GM’d about 2w ago. The numbers you see are the nightly build number.
Yeah, al though here are 20-ish builds there, so there are more builds than nights... ;)

The point was that I wouldn't bother upgrading for just a couple of builds - as long as I don't have any issues with it (apart from the installing process and - apparently - installing Apple upgrades), because - well, how many fixes can you squeeze into one build and still have a certain amount of control? :)

Edit: My work Mac (a 2013 MBP), that was on the regular Catalina 10.15.0, installed the supplemantal without any issues...

...except it took at least half an hour out of my workday... :p

Am on the GM and don't get to see the supplemental update. Catalina app store version does download but is 'not eligible to install'. What can I try?
Will I be able to see the 10.15.1?

I use alot of Native Instrument & Spitfire Audio stuff, both companies don’t recommend to do an update to Catalina.

I remember when El Capitan came out and there was some bug in Cubase when also Steinberg held all users hostage for more than 2 months and did not recommend update until they came out with a fix (because Cubase was crashing during startup). Some of DAW and plugin creators are lazy and unreliable. I made switch later to Logic Pro X and ditched also NI as well.
