Update went without hitch on my mid 2011 21.5" iMac and recently purchased 2015 21.5" 4k iMac. On the 2011 iMac macOS High Sierra now seems to run smoother since updating.

Looking forward to eGPU on my 4k iMac to boost gaming capabilities as its currently held back by the integrated Intel Iris Pro 6200 graphics which although ample for many tasks fall well short on gaming and being a fan of the F1 2016 game is currently out of the question although impressive for older titles such as Call Of Duty 4 Modern Warfare.

If this product is being used with a Mac, we have important news about macOS 10.13.4. This new macOS release only supports displays which are directly provided by a GPU or via AirPlay.
I created a snapshot of 10.13.3 and then installed 10.13.4 but the DL dongle doesn't work. I have to switch snapshots back to 10.13.3 to continue using it. I can't believe Apple broke as it's scandalous. I'll update the 10.13.4 snapshot to 10.13.5 beta 1 next week to see if that helps. Finger crossed.

Black Screen after Update on my MacBook Pro 2016... :-/

Update: Did a forced restart after 15 minutes of black screen... now it tells me it will take 15 minutes to finish the installation

Update 2:
macOS started and reopened all apps while I had a blank window with spinning gear on top of it... after like 2 minutes the Mac asked me for my password again... then Apple wanted to know if I want to share system information with them...

Come on Apple...

Update 3:
The AppStore is back with the "hey let's install 10.13.4 since although I went through all the steps above, I'm back on 10.13.3...

Let's not try this again
You kno the install took a good amount of time, even on my 2016 MBP. It had to restart 3 or 4 times. At one point I thought it froze it was just a delayed restart. Just some food for thought.

Weird. I installed 10.13.4, and then tried opening two 32-bit applications (one Mac App Store, one from an identified developer), and no warning came up at all... what gives?

Would you please tell me how to use the new sorting of bookmarks feature. Thank you Larry
In the menu bar (top of screen) select Bookmarks then Edit Bookmarks. Select the folder you want to sort and right click on it then select Sort by...
It looks like you cannot do this sort action from the drop down menus.
BTW - I liked Firefox’s ability to drag a tab on the drop-down menus to quickly bookmark a webpage. I was hoping the Safari update would add this feature but it seems not!
BTWBTW - 2 Macbooks and 2 iMacs seem to have updated without a hitch but with vastly different durations ranging from 10mins to 50mins.

At who? Apple for requiring 64bit, or to the lazy developer who hasn't updated yet?

In this case Apple itself is the lazy developer who hasnt updated it yet.

Apple stopped including optical drives a long time ago and they don't even have a BluRay drive or app. I think Apple will let it die on the vine and let alternatives take over.

You better remind Apple to stop selling their over priced USB SuperDrive then - https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD564LL/A/apple-usb-superdrive?fnode=5f

I agree theyll most likely just let it die. And yes, something like VLC is a far better free alternative. But in some weird way I think there would be something charming about Apple recompiling it as 64bit and leaving it in one more OS incarnation. I dont even know why, perhaps because it would be so unexpected, and so un-Apple.

Bug report: Every time starting up OSX, the monitor is almost at max brightness (and it doesn't remember the settings from the last time in OSX). Auto-brightness on/off doesn't matter. This is using iMac Pro.

Hopefully no a kind of placebo but the OS feels "snappier". 10.13.3 had a latency issue in the Finder.

Still no hevc mpeg decode/encode on GPUs that support it.

Did the update, ~20-30mins, no problems so far.
As few people said, it feels more snappy.

The loss of displaylink removes my ability to upgrade to this release. Thanks for the post it saved me alot of time going forward only to roll backwards. With the number of these docks out there you would have thought that Apple would have made it very clear in the Release Notes that the upgrade kills Display link!!! Thats kind of a killer for alot of businesses that use docks such as Dell etc for both windows and MACs. Looks like I could be stuck on 10.13.3 for a long time. I signed up to displaylink to get notification when they release upgrades.

Another sad day on Apple breaking a fundamental component and not even mentioning that they where going to do so. The non-disclosure part makes an upgrade hit and miss which should not be the case for a 0.0.x release you would think. Lack of respect for the users i guess and a thought process they can do anything they want.

Thanks again you saved me countless hours.

There must been thousands and thousands of users who are now left with partially useless DisplayLink docks.

I work for global company and DisplayLink is part of the IT strategy on having a single cable on the desk for both Mac's and Windows devices, the cable providing power, network, keyboard connection and of course the screen at the desk. The hub is under the desk away from users. Thousands and thousands of $'s have been spent on docks.

What massively irritates me this was never mentioned in any beta release notes or was notified via my Apple Engineer.

Another dreadful update from Apple.

APFS support for Fusion Drives in 10.13.5? I want to believe.
Someone knows when this will happen.

Guys, help me out here. The 10.13.4 update runs beautifully on all my macs but Etrecheck points out some 32-bit apps that are still not updated. But these are Apple apps. I find it weird that Apple has not updated them. DVDPlayer.app to me seems quite useless and I will not be using it. But what about quicklookd32? I see there is now a newer version, quicklookd.app, so I guess quicklookd32 can be trashed? Then there is InkServer. What do I do with these?

Installation of 10.13.4 went well on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014). It took 20-30 minutes. As many have mentioned, expect several reboots and a lot of time with nothing but a black screen showing. If you see a black screen, wait at least 30 minutes before try to tamper with it because it is possibly/probably still working on the update. Apple really needs to figure out a method to keep some indicator on the screen or light on the Mac so we know the update is still running. I suspect a lot of the issues we are reading about here in the forum are because the screen went black and the Mac user panicked and tried to restart the Mac manually. Again, the best solution if the Mac screen goes black is to wait at least 30 minutes to see whether it is still running.

Rule of thumb for Mac Updates: Black screen during update is probably okay and update is likely still running so don't touch the Mac for at least 30 minutes if the screen goes black. Be PATIENT!!!
