I'm downloading this mostly for the smoke cloud wallpaper!![]()
I'm pretty sure 10.13.4 will slow computers down because it has the Skylake microcode update for Spectre Variant 2. Not updated yet on the Sandy Bridge I checked.
eGPU support to me means the new Mac Pro Modular is going to suck just like the trash can!
Ummm..that has nothing to do with my question and the new Safari functionality introduced with this release. You must work there?safarisort.com
That sucks, I was always curious on eGPU but I really don't like doing things that are similar to hacks and unsupported. Either way I'm pretty sure that there will be a hack around the TB1 and TB2 machines (maybe using older kexts or modify current kexts). Now that it's actually supported I may look into using it.Not if you were using an ogpu setup on High sierra with a TB 1 and TB 2 machine....Apple all but killed these machines and not allowing them support with this ****** update
That MacBook is slower than an iPhone, you shouldn't expect good performance and shouldn't install new OS right from the start. Now should be a good time to update.
Do people still use bookmarks? This isn’t the 1990s...
I do. I use Firefox with the bookmark toolbar and it syncs across my devices. It's an efficient and effective way to maintain links. I see no reason to change at this time.
What benefit would the DVD Player app have by migrating to 64-bit?
The slowdown might be more significant with other applications like VMs and databases where there are lots of system calls. Geekbench AFAIK only runs some loops in userspace on CPU.The update went smoothly for me -- maybe 20 minutes with one reboot. My MacBook Pro seems to be running fine, but the numbers say this update slows down multi-core use measurably.
MacBook Pro (15-inch Retina Mid 2014)
Intel Core i7-4870HQ 2500 MHz (4 cores)
Geekbench 4 benchmarks - Mac OS 10.13.3
Single core score: 4271
Multi-core score: 14918
Geekbench 4 benchmarks - Mac OS 10.13.4
Single core score: 4309
Multi-core score: 14013
My math could be be wrong, but that looks like a 6% performance hit.
EDIT: Update, my Mac runs about 10° C warmer with fewer apps open. And the new Safari update grabs about twice as much RAM.
I use them but not the same way as before where I look through a list of bookmarks. If I want something saved, I bookmark it, then Safari's search finds it automatically. This should've been a feature even in the 90s.Do people still use bookmarks? This isn’t the 1990s...
MacBook Pro 15 2017 : after the update , I restart the Mac and boum nothing workView attachment 756176
Eh, if it's not ready it's not ready.I first thought they were going to delay iMessage iCloud sync until the new High Sierra Version was released. I guess I was wrong. This sucks.
It was, however with this update it enables “plug and play” while previous versions required the Mac to be logged out and log back in to enable and disable eGPU. Now you can just plug in/out a eGPU without doing anything else.I thought there already was eGPU support on MacOS? What does this mean exactly?

Apple stopped including optical drives a long time ago and they don't even have a BluRay drive or app. I think Apple will let it die on the vine and let alternatives take over.ummmm....it'll continue to function once Apple stops allowing 32-bit apps.

The release notes refer to Safari having the ability to now sort Bookmarks. It could never do this, did you read the release notes in the Macforums announcement?Safari will not do what you asked. SafariSort will. It will also sort with folders on top. I've used it for years without issues.

My bookmarks are stored in iCloud, I can access them and sort them with Chrome (which shows in Safari) without third party software.
So I guess this isn't possible with the beta just yet.
Can you post a screenshot of that pop up?
I also noticed Messages appearing in my iCloud space on both iOS and macOS... maybe they are going to roll this out eventually over the air? Perhaps they realized everybody’s Messages being uploaded at once would set their data centers on fire.
