So this dark mode is huge improvement in system performance, right?...

Well then, who gives a ****.

Don't install if you're running an old iTunes version! (I do btw.) Especially version 12.6.5 where you have access to the iOS App Store. According to German online magazine Mac&i/Heise it won't work any more under Mojave!

https://www.heise.de/mac-and-i/meldung/macOS-Mojave-Update-Warnungen-von-Entwicklern-4171776.html

Other software needs updates, p.e. Cubase by Steinberg. There are problems with other audio software as well.
Not true. You can still run iTunes 12.6.5 but you need to delete the new iTunes from Mojave (using the terminal). You also need to have version 12.6.5 installed on another hard disk, or partition. You drag it from that hd/partition to the Mojave application folder. That is all. I did it on the last beta and it works like a charm. Observe that you have to do it by drag and drop because the 12.6.5 installer won’t work.

Installed without problems. Also installed a new firmware update or something..

High Sierra looks fine on the Air's screen. Mojave is 10x worse.
Perhaps try turning off 'Use font smoothing when available' (in system preferences / general) in Mojave... seems to help. I think Mojave looses antialiasing support (at some level) and this is what is causing the issue.

Thank you for the hint and the workaround. In short I make a drag&drop copy of the already (under 10.13.6) installed 12.6.5 (call it backup) via Finder to another harddrive or USB stick and drag&drop it back after having updated to Mojave?

Can anybody confirm this? Just to be sure…

Ok so after playing around for a little while I have to say I really like Mojave:

  • Screen capture is awesome
  • Continuity camera is fast and fluid
  • Love using stacks
  • Love dark mode it looks great
I’m running it on a late 2012 iMac, it’s fast and stable, no issues so far.

I've been looking forward to a dark mode for years, so this is such a great update for me. iTunes and Photos are so much easier on the eye with dark mode when viewing on a large monitor.

How long should I wait until I update my work mac? I'm not anxious to jump on this until I know everything will work. Any thoughts?

I completely forgot about this. Are there any known issues with Adobe CC, MS Office, or any other apps that usually have problems? I'm really looking forward to dark mode, but I gave my personal MacBook Pro to my grandpa and only have a work MacBook Pro now so I don't want to mess it up. I'm wanting to buy a desktop sometime next year after I see what the Mac Pro is all about.

I’ve had no issues using office 365 apps through the entities betas.

I just installed Mojave and I had an issue...the update added a password to my MacBook Pro and I was locked out of it...prior update I never had a password on my MacBook Pro...I did a quick google search and was able to Reset the password...did anyone else encounter this issue?

So if you have a MacBook Air or non retina iMac that are still being sold, the fonts will look like crap? Is Apple seriously releasing software that will make your fonts look like crap? Then this upgrade should be skipped. How many people will not realize this and suddenly after reboot, the screen fonts are terrible. Laughable.

When Apple released iOS 7, it looked like garbage on my iPad 2 and I’m sure for those people who still were using a 3GS. That’s just how it is. Eventually old devices will start to look low-rent and it seems that time has come for pre-retina macs. Retina macs are in their 7th year of production. That’s an eternity in the tech world.

And this is not an iOS device. People can always go back to El Capitan, Sierra or High Sierra if they want. It takes some time but it’s not a such a big deal.

Edit: The 3GS never got iOS 7. I wasn’t sure but 6.1.6 was the last.

Ever since I upgraded to Mojave, the Unlock with Apple Watch feature hasn't been working for me. I assumed it was a beta glitch, but even after installing the public version of Mojave today, it still remains not working.
