For you guys that want the full installer. You could either use the SoftwareUpdate terminal or just go to https://mrmacintosh.com/macos-12-monterey-full-installer-database-download-directly-from-apple/ and download the full installer there (recommended) it has direct Links for the full installers from the Apple website itself
I know it was many pages ago, but I linked to the direct installers from Apple’s site, too

Still no update here in Italy for my MBP 14 M1
Apple deliver their updates via 3rd party content delivery networks. The CDN you connect to depends on your ISP and where you are. I’m sure it will show up before too long.

MacOS Monterey 12.1 Supplemental Update 1.0 now available! It fixes a buffer overflow zero day exploit. 7.46 GB on eligible devices.

So after 12.1 i need to update again to the supplemental update?

Edit= it seems like it automatically downloaded and applied it when I updated to 12.1 since i don't have the update available on my system preferences. Now that I think about it. When I was installing the new 12.1 stable using bootable full installer, I was watching the log and it says something about a new update with supplemental etc too. Didn't think much of it since there wasn't any news of this yet. But it seems like it automatically applied it

What is the difference between the full installers and the Apple Software Update? Pardon my ignorance. Still no update for M1 Air in the US.

its the full installer it contains every files needed to have that os installed. instead of delta updates which software update uses where it only downloads the files that's needed to upgrade from your current installation to the new OS.

I usually recommend full installers since it always overwrites all of the system partition so if something is not right it will always fix the system partition etc. and having the full installers being bootable is also nice for in case you need it . like if your laptop needs a reinstall or it cant boot etc. you can use this without downloading later on

Updated my iMac this morning and now suddenly I have no printers:

no-printers.png

Before the update I had a HP LaserJet CP1525nw (AirPrint) and an older Brother DCP-585CW ink printer that I mostly use for scanning.

It was easy to reinstall both of them, but still the first time an update have removed all printers.

Have this happened to anyone else going from 12.0.1 to 12.1?

The update doesn't help for my problem:
when I watch youtube on my macbook pro 2021 16 inch, M1 MAX, 64gb memory, 32c CPU, 2 tb ssd with google chrome and switch to full screen (and also when leaving full screen) the screen most of the times flickers, especially when I switch quickly: you see the background for a moment and then it switches to full screen. I don't have this problem with safari and firefox.

Does anyone recognise this issue?

Does anyone know whether this fixes the bug causing USB hubs not to work. It is the only thing keeping me from upgrading from Big Sur, as I rely very heavily on my CalDigit Element hub with my M1 Mac Mini.
The USB problem (at least in the form that I've observed) is NOT fixed. Here's my normal setup:

Computer --> USB-C Dock --> USB Hub --> USB Hub

That last USB hub (a small one that is attached to my desk, for a convenient place to plug flash drives and stuff into) will not work in that configuration (but worked fine on my i9 MBP running Big Sur). If I plug that hub directly into the dock, it works. So I guess there's a Monterey (or M1Max) problem with chained USB hubs?

Huh!! I just checked on my end and I'm also missing my Brother MFC-J625DW! I don't print much at all, though. In fact, it's been off for quite a while, but I do know that it was here on macOS 12.something at one point or another :)

I'm sure someone much smarter than me can chime in, but I believe this has to do with the number of lanes/bandwidth each TB4 port has on the M1 Macs as opposed to Intel based Macs. I have a similar setup with a dock & a hub and have had to plug specific USB devices into each and test which works best for me due to some items drawing 'too much power' and then disabling USB devices all together.
This compared to my 2015 MBP with nearly the same setup (I have a newer dock now, but same number of devices), where I actually had a couple more devices connected.

All 3 of my printers are there as before.

Apple needs to concentrate on the two most used apps by everyone. The browser and mail.

Nope, my printers are still there (Brother and Canon).

Not here in 2017 27" iMac. And I have two like you, but different brands. Epson ink and Brother laser.

Haven't updated MBP M1 yet.

PS. Thank to whoever posted `softwareupdate -l`. Nice to know

Hmmm... I'm not sure about bandwidth limitations, but power shouldn't be a factor in my setup, as each of these hubs is externally powered.
