Be my guest, waste your time waiting

How is it wasting my time? Problems that need other folks to identify and provide fixes for, take time.

Waiting is actually far more efficient and productive.

In addition, by the time I go for it the download servers will not be as stressed.

So the exact opposite of your post will happen.

Universal Control, Macbook M1 Pro + iPad Pro 12.9" 2020 ... "funny bug" ... using the laptop keyboard cmd+space to summon Spotlight on the iPad sometimes works other times does not. On the other hand if I use the iPad Magic Keyboard it works all the time. For proficient MacOS users that use Spotlight to summon almost anything ... this bug totally cuts the flow of work ...

Anyway, Universal Control just exposes how half baked iPad OS is compared with MacOS. It's weird, its a bit like going back to the Stone Ages of OSs.

Cheers.
PS: By the way, the iPad OS deals with Mouse gestures differently then macOS ... huge cognitive dissonance between both when using the Mouse to move back and forth between apps ... mission control. Why didn't Apple followed the lead of macOS when dealing with the mouse and had to come up with this weird op using the edges of the display ... have no eye dear.

New Big Sur 11.6.5 update is also available which I'm going to do first then maybe try out Monterey 12.3 after. Reason for staying with Big Sur was smoother scrolling/UI and OpenCL apps work but losing out on Blender support in Monterey.

Yeh lots of other friends did too! My mac is only “unusual” in that it had a replacement logic board back in January for a faulty HDMI port.

I’m wondering if something about that logic board replacement wasn’t done correctly and so it’s failing to update something like the touch ID firmware.

I’ve tried a DFU restore of 12.3 and even that fails. The only thing that I can do to make the mac boot is DFU to 12.2.1.
Sounds like you'll need to send it back to Apple which is a pain.

I can confirm the bug as noted. I use Alfred for such things as I have found it works faster etc. but, wanted to test just the same.

Forgive me, but what do you mean by Alfred? I’m not following or am I just missing something here?

It is an app that is much more powerful and efficient than Apple's built in search and other system uses. Alfred makes using the Mac a real joy. I have been using it for years and it is one of the best apps I have purchased. No sub, which is a big plus as well.

I'm happy with Monterey on the 2015 MacBook Pro. I don't have a feel for battery life yet but performance is very good.

I also updated my iPad mini 5 to 15.4 and I have Universal Control working and I love it. I'm watching a news podcast next to me on the iPad while I'm typing on the MacBook Pro.

Same thing here, my MBP 2021 also have replaced motherboard.

I cannot install macOS 12.3 in any way: direct upgrade, install via App Store, Recovery Mode, DFU Restore, all failed. All versions before macOS 12.3 works. I have to download IPSW for macOS 12.2 to use it.

The motherboard replacement must have some issues with the new MBP. I cannot get Apple Pay working until after months struggle with AppleCare and finally writing an email to Tim Cook...

I don’t understand why this feature does not support managed Apple IDs. Seems like a no brained for teachers with multiple devices.

Monterey completely SCREWS people with 5000 and 6000 series GPUs, halving their performance, both in benchmarks and real world usage (games, blender, etc).

This NEEDS to be made a huge headline on MacRumors, Apple's really dropped the ball on this. Anyone whos got a dGPU should avoid 12.3 like the plague.

The Command + Tap to Click open in a New Tab is finally fixed for me! Well I haven't had an issue yet anyway.

universal control whoheartedly failed for me... 2017 iMac sees my iPad pro, but not my m1 mbp. m1 mbp sees iPad Pro, but no iMac. don't care what iPad sees.

Oh fun! Have tried updating my MacBook Pro M1 Max 3 times now and it fails with an iBoot Panic. Last attempt was in a new clean admin account. Only good thing is that it falls back to 12.2.whatever and doesn’t brick the darn thing.

What do you do with a macOS ipsw?

Haven’t used this before but I know may be different with M1 and all

Tried installing this a couple of times on MBA M1 2020 ( update from MacOS Big Sur 11.6.5) and it fails...
