Nobody is asking the important question... new green and purple colours on 2019?

Edit: Okay, at least three users pointed that out already xD

Whether you think it's working or not, Apple has completely dominated their space meaning their ads are highly effective.
I actually wonder if the Xr marketing push isn’t just to increase sales as much as it’s to increase awareness. The Xr is the same cost bracket as the popular 8/8 Plus a year ago. Yet this thread is dominated by “the prices are too high” comments. People can’t let go of the Xs’ $1000 price point. Maybe the Xr should’ve been released first.

I just noticed on the iPhone XR clear case box it contains rainbow coloured writing which has green and purple shown, I have a feeling we may be getting green and purple iPhone XRs very soon

It was shot in Prague I see.
Anyway, Apple lost it. A) the beauty of their ads is long gone. This ad is just hideous
B) they are really pushing for this XR thing. Desperate more?

The 9:41 time detail was cute when it was fresh. Now it feels like a creepy cult symbol.

Thought it was simple and effective.
I liked it.

Maybe they want it to look like a breaking out to more color.
Ok with me.

Don't get people's negativity though about it. It's advertising.
It can be fun too.

It’s not their best ad, sure, but I don’t see how (as one other said) it “definitely does more harm than good.” It’s just something fun.

Ads cost money, and they can backfire, so I think it's quite possible that this did more harm than good.

Rather than increase our respect for Apple, we now respect Apple less. It didn't raise awareness of a product nobody knew existed. Seems to me it was a total flop in every way.

Looks like a PRK May Day parade. Even the buildings seem to belong to some 60s communist bloc architecture.

Yeah - this is really, really bad. Apple put themselves into a really terrible position by making a set of iPhones that nobody wanted, but they're only digging themselves in deeper by being so pushy with the ads.

Really, they're making me think of dealerships. It's kind of funny. Tesla is touted as the Apple of the car world, but now Apple is turning into something that resembles a mainstream auto dealer with incessant ads for products that people don't care about.

I'm thinking of pivoting to buying iPhones the way I generally buy cars - the new ones aren't all that much better, so I'll just buy them two years old and avoid the depreciation.

Resolution isn’t the only thing that makes a display.

But display is a massive portion of the cost of the device.

I think the argument that's being made is that nothings wrong with a lower res LCD display, it's value is just pretty low for a device that costs flagship prices.

While it's still probably the best LCD display you can get, it's still LCD and still < 1080p, which you can find really good quality LCD displays of higher resolution in phones that cost $200-$300 less.

while the display isn't everything, it's IS a large portion of the cost and IS the first and foremost thing that all users interact with. So selling a phone, ANY phone today with a fairly low rez LCD at nearly $800 can seem a bit rich.

Regardless of the value the rest of the phone seemingly has.
