Apple Releases New Firmware for AirPods 2 and AirPods Pro

That was strange: They (edit: AirPods 2) were fully charged I think when I put them on the wireless charger and connected them to my iPhone and now I came back about an hour later to check the status and saw that the firmware update completed ("Yay") and that the case was at 4% battery life ("What?").
Quick update: Plugged the case in, let the case charge to around 25%, unplugged the case and used the AirPods for a bit and when I checked the case battery status later it said 100% 😆

I updated -- and now there is no difference between Noise Cancellation, Transparency, and Off. All the same. Anyone else?

I wish they would provide an update for the Airpods Gen 1 for those of us who can't afford to upgrade! Some reason since iOS 13 has dropped, I've had nothing but problems with my Airpods. When I reached out to Apple they finally responded saying we are aware of the problem, but would have to wait for update.

Hoping it improves some stability when connected to my iPad 6. Get some stuttering, especially when playing videos. But is fine when paired to my xs max? It’s odd

No, not at all. Any tweaks made for improvements and/or stability would be very helpful to know if something has been addressed that was previously reported. Apple _should_ be more transparent here.
I’d also like the option to upgrade or not. I consider them complete and never want to update. I don’t use Siri and don’t need more features. It is just a chance to have an upgrade go wrong or remove features.

New update messed up the NC in my left AirPod. Turn it on and it makes a clicking noise that is super annoying!

Why doesn’t Apple provide a summary of what’s new in the update? I didn’t notice a sound difference before reading the comments.

They [Apple] should be providing cliff notes of what the update entails, similar to how they want developers to provide details of when an app is updated and what changes were made.

The Really is no legitimate reason why they can’t tell us what the update includes/improvements made or any alterations.

Can anyone explain this weird thing? i have 2 pairs of AP Pro: yesterday i updated the first, not the second, in order to see the differences.

I'm pretty sure i didn't plug the case of second pair to the charge, but now even the second pair is updated. How is it possible?

PS: the only thing is that for mistake i switch the buds between the cases.. maybe the trigger of the update is this?

AirPods 2 connected to phone, but not seeing an entry for them in About screen. Why must MR turn this site into a den of lies?
Chill.

The entry is not there all the time. Seems to show up when the case is open (and shortly after it is closed). On my phone it appears immediately after "EID", at the end of the 4th block, which starts with "Wi-Fi Address".

I am still seeing 2B588, is there a way to force this?

Turn it on and it makes a clicking noise that is super annoying!
Sounds like the problem I had that after a few days with left pod from original pair. It was like the stalk was being squeezed, triggering Siri, skipping music, whatever was in context at the time.

Apple Support gave me a new left pod and no problems since.
