Just updated the 2 and the pro's, by closing the lid :) on pro's sund is somehow improved on mid's and bass, but high sounds are not satisfying. I think on ANC same small improvement, too. best wireless audition for now on my beats x.

I want to assign 2 events to a press action.
1 Put music in pause and 2 activate transparency mode.
Then the same in reverse.

Basically Play/Pause but with transparency mode taggeling along

While not exactly what you describe, removing one AirPod simultaneously pauses the music and switches the remaining AirPod to Transparency Mode. Reinserting resumes and restores original mode. Nice detail.

That’s quite strange 🤔
I checked mine and they are running 2C54, so the last version available.

The point is: I didn’t recharge my AirPods since Saturday, so if the new firmware was released today, they updated even without being on charge.

Is that possible ? 🤨

You are not supposed to do that.
They should update by themselves on background.
My pros are running 2C54 also. Can anyone confirm what is the latest version please?

It appears to fix an issue I’ve been having with one AirPod dropping out and resuming out of sync when I ask Siri to turn on or off noise cancellation, transparency modes.

Mode switching via Siri also is a lot faster

Would really love someone to test out this reduced ANC theory. I have a pair of Sony WH-1000XM3 (damn that's a bad name...) and so many people claim the same thing about every firmware update. I can't tell if it's legit or just confirmation bias...

“There's no clear cut way to upgrade the firmware of the AirPods and AirPods”. LOL. and then you go on to describe a clear cut way to update the firmware.
You mean the part where they don't clarify whether "then pairing the AirPods to an iPhone or an iPad" means you first have to unpair them?

Common misconception - devices only draw what they need. You can’t ‘force’ current into them.
Jaybird apparently didn't get that memo:
"Computers are the best and safest method, as is anything 1 AMP or less."

You have 4 ears?

I don't know about him but I have 2 pairs of AirPod Pros. Why? Because I have battery anxiety, a costly condition. Instead of 4 to 5 hours, I get unlimited hours. When one pair is empty, I use the other pair while charging the empty pair. Charge, of course, is complete, long before the 2nd pair run down.

1. Watched an Amazon Prime movie for a few minutes.
2. Put AirPod Pros in their case.
3. Closed Case.
4. Attached Charger to Case
5. Opened Case to validate connectivity to iPhone.
6. Closed Case again.
7. Kept Case and iPhone side by side.
8. 10-20 minutes later ... iPhone - About ... Firmware updated.

I think this was tested by some tech blog and they found no reduced quality, many others would disagree. I have not upgraded because I don't want to take the risk.

What is the new firmware update number on the AirPods 2 please.

Yeah I know, but I really don't want pull them out. I want minimum effort to to be able to say and listen to a few words and then go my way.
Pause, Pay for coffee, Say thank you and walk away.
I can do this with a shortcut, but..... I'm not big on using Siri in public.

That would be useful as transparency mode isn’t that much use while the music is playing.

Maybe if you live in a city with lots of traffic, like New York or something, then I would understand using transparency mode just not to get hit by cars or whatnot.

If we were to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he knew that, then he was just implying that it's (slightly) better for the longevity of the lithium-ion battery inside the AirPods case to charge it with a charger that can't supply the maximum number of watts that the case can draw. He'd be right about that.

Yeah it seems they gave the bass and mids a boost. The lows and mids definitely blend better together IMO. Unfortunately it goes at the expense of the highs. Is it me or did the highs became almost completely absent? Great for pop music though, for classical however, not so much..

I'm using Airpods 2, Finally updated I think I left the case open for awhile with the airpods in to finally get the update to work.

I'm not a super expert audiophile, but seems to sound different. Feels like vocals really got pushed forward? A bit more sound stage or reverb happening? Sounds a bit clearer overall?

If you're really into vocals you should like the update. According to my ears anyway.

My AirpodsPro have updated to the latest 2C54 , and yeah, they definitely enhanced the mids which were a bit hollow before. To the expense of the highs, which are now a bit reduced, they are more « rounded » and less brittle in a way.
Overall they sound more intimate and less open, although i would have prefered the opposite. Nevertheless, i think they’re pretty well balanced frequency-wise, even better than before. i alway found them sterile before. If they had a bit more highs they would be perfect.

ANC is as good ( or better) than previous version. I cant compare with the very first firmware version since i only bought them recently.
