At least this poster didn't say there was no way to check the version number on your Mac. Yah, one "expert" author has actually said that.

This is for Ventura, I remember similar on earlier versions, but I no longer use them:

1. connect AirPods to Mac,
2. Alt click Bluetooth icon on menubar - whoop, there it is
3. click on bipods icon, go to AirPods settings - whoop, there it is
4. goto system information - bluetooth. whoop, there it is.
5. goto system settings bluetooth - click connected aipods. Whoop, there it is

OK< OK hold the applause, I'll be here all week. Seriously, I love calling out "experts" who know not what they write about

Looks like the US support page has been updated but other localities might not be showing the update yet.

After reading your post I checked the UK version which says updated 11 April 2023 but the firmware versions shown are still the old ones 🤷

so maybe they have pulled it 😅

Whenever we are all done complaining about the firmware update system, I for one would be interested to hear if anyone is noticing any differences or feature changes.

(For the record my AirPods Max updated themselves sometime yesterday, apparently. I haven’t been in enough noise yet to battle test the ANC.)

I have AirPods Max and the audio quality seems better (could be placebo) and the ANC seems as good as before at least

Didn't they release an update that reduced the quality of the AirPod Pro's noise cancellation feature following a lost in a law suit to a patent troll?
A previous firmware update did, in fact, reduce ANC performance according to test results from Rtings.com. Whether that was in response to a patent lawsuit is pure conjecture. At this point Apple has yet to officially comment on the topic.

They just need to implement a preference slider, where the user can choose how much noise cancellation they want, from a little to a lot.
I would really like this. I also use AirPods (pro and max) for calls a lot, and would really appreciate the addition of side tone when using ANC.

AKA, playing your own mic audio lightly back through the headphones so you don't feel like you're talking with a pillow over your head. My wife has an expensive Jabra headset designed for phone calls has this. It's a great optimization for that use case. I feel like AirPods have all the pieces necessary to make it work nicely.

Airpods Pro 2 ANC performance seems to be slightly improved with Version 5E133.

I often use the AirPods without music to kill the traffic noise at home and I think the rest noise that comes through became less.
