I dislike the song personally. Had no idea what it was and couldn't relate.

Anyone notice that Apple calls some their commercials "films" and some ads? Goes to show that they don't want people thinking that some of their advertising efforts are anything like what companies normally produce.

What can I say? Written by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin. The last song George wrote before he died. A classic. A main theme in the 1951 Gene Kelly movie An American In Paris, which of course, included Gershwin's An American In Paris symphony, and the incredible choreography by Kelly.

Sung by many, an Ella Fitzgerald classic with Louis Armstrong.

I'd say you need some heavy re-educat'n.

Sappy or not, this is why Google or Samsung or Apple haters will never get Apple or the people who buy their products.

To others, it's all about specs.

I'm glad you enjoy spending twice the price for your beloved Apple products in comparison to Google, Samsung or Dell, in exchange for the wonderful sappy commercials...after all, it's money out of your pocket that is paying for them.

I get Apple...They're just as greedy as any other big business.

Twice the price? Yeah, right!

You get what you pay for.

I like whatever works. Telling me what a device can do is what matters. However a short ad will not be able to and that's why you tube is useful.

Will that iPad mini still be working fine, when it's found a generation from now, like that old record was?

Most likely not (battery dead).
But if you upload the video to iCloud and youtube....

An interesting problem, indeed.
There are apparently companies doing custom small-volume vinyl pressings....

I like the ad.
Much better than some dumb endorsement by a stupid actor or sports-star.

I much preferred last years holiday ad over this one. Aside from some garland around the house and some snow on the ground I get no "holiday" feeling in this one.

Maybe the ones not affected by it have not lost anyone yet, which is hard to accomplish, but still possible.
I know some people in their forties and fifties who still have parents and even grandparents.
I am in my thirties and have neither for a decade and two and three.

Anyway, Apple did bring along its message quite well and that is all that matters for them. If people are not affected by that message, that is okay too, and they are not robots, just not yet at their emotional core.

But haven't you paid twice as much for your iPad and Mac Pro? You could have gotten a Nexus or whatever Acer tablet for much less and could have gotten an AMD computer for even less than the tablet.
My flatmate has a 300 USD AMD computer and is quite happy, thus you should not need a Mac Pro. Simple illogical logic, isn't it?

Ive lost. Still didn't effect me. Ive seen my core as you put it.

Yeah, it’s way more about what's created on the device. The user gen’ed content can easily live on way beyond the device and can be shared and enjoyed by far more people than physical media ever could. :)

Outstanding

Beautiful.

Last Christmas I had the opportunity of sitting down with an old and very dear uncle, use my Macbook to find several of his favorite tunes on YouTube and record a CD for him (that's as far technologically as he'll go).

His face was that of a child as he watched me easily get all the songs and artists he wanted to hear: Earl Grant, Nat King Cole, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, and several others.

It's quite easy for anyone with a modicum of tech knowledge, but unimaginable for people who lost touch with technology before the Internet, and that is his case. And this is what it's all about: not tech, but what tech can do for us, humans. it's about humanity. Apple gets that.

This is a fantastic ad.

In theory, they could, but from my own experience with family and friends, there is in fact not more sharing, possibly less. The problem is curation. People used to carefully sift through their souvenirs and then share those that mean the less to them, and possibly others. These days, its either a brain/data dump to the INTERNET without any curation or people just get overwhelmed by the mass of crap they produce and never look/curate them; result, less meaningful sharing.

There is a huge chasm between the possibility of tech, and the actual reality of it. Maybe with time both will reunite, but we're not there yet.

What if it was a Samsung ad.

When they get one out like that... You can call me... ;-). Samsung's ad would have a girl laughing and pointing to her grand ma, the poor Apple users who can't multitask on their 4.7 inch phone.

Guess some people here don't have a keen perception. It's easy to understand Apple's ads for the most, if not all part. I like them a lot actually.

Great on par with last year

I loved it. I starting to look forward to this commercials during the holidays now kinda like super bowl commercials. The last one touched me. But this one is classy and doesn't have to show what the competitors don't have. Way to go apple for being a cut above the rest

Literally anything is better than those annoying Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake iPhone ads. Those make me want to smash my TV into a million pieces.

For saying that, you just make them funnier :) :apple:

Worst song ever. I was looking forward to watching this, considering how much I loved the Misunderstood ad last year, but this was no comparison.
