Every time I hear the word Magical, I die a little inside.
It's not frickin magical. It's a computer. I use and enjoy my 64gb 3G iPad regularly - and it is many things - but Magical is not one.
Anyone know what the astronomy app is named?
edit: Maybe StarMap 3D? Can anyone confirm?
It's not frickin magical. It's very very obvious how it works. Accelerometers + Compass + GPS = device pointing at point in sky. It's the opposite of magical.

It works as if by magic.
Most people can't explain how the iPad works, or don't care to know. So to them, the iPad is magical. It's the same reason people believe in God. If they don't know how the universe works or don't care to try, they believe in something 'magical'.

I know this doesn't belong here but religion is so much more than just "trying to explain how the Universe works"
Is the iPad God?

$9.99 SUCKA!!!! ha ha ha. PSP ad was way better, not going to buy a PSP, but the ad was good.
My bet is that it was created in GarageBand.Nice ad. What's the music?
Maybe you can remember the quote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from Magic" by Arthur C. Clarke. You might also consider the rebuttal, "Any technology, no matter how primitive, is magic to those who don't understand it." by Florence Ambrose. Quite simply, the iPad is magic to the average user. They don't understand the technology and honestly don't want to understand. For people like you, Barry Gehm has a succinct response: "Any technology distinguishable frm magic is insufficiently advanced."Every time I hear the word Magical, I die a little inside.

Still a over priced, over hyped ipod to me....
Sorry.
The iPad is not magical. And if you ask me (and anyone else that has used an iPhone or Touch), it's just a big Touch. For those who have never used an iPhone or Touch, yes, it's a cool experience...just like when I got my first iPhone...but it certainly isn't/wasn't magical.

It is definitely a heavily-used term by Apple, but...Every time I hear the word Magical, I die a little inside.

Considering its neither Omnipresent, Omnipotent or All Knowing then no, it is not God.
The iPad is magical. And if you ask me (someone who has used an iPhone or touch), it's nothing at all like a big touch.
There, we now have two data points in our sample, and they contradict each other. Guess we'd better not try to extrapolate from personal experience, huh?
there's an app for that.![]()

Just because you can't explain something, doesn't make that magical. I don't know how paperclips are manufactured but that doesn't make the process magical.

Dude it's magical.. Just say it.. It's magical.. It feels good to let it out.
*sigh*
I explained the long history of marketing using the word "magical" and still we're getting the geeks who simply will not accept that the whole world does not think the way they do.
It's not meant literally!
So continue to whine about "magical" if you want, but the rest of the world does not care. They know what Apple means and they get it.
I know the question wasn't addressed at me, but the two devices offer an entirely different experience. The apps on the iPad are designed to take advantage of the iPad's size, and that includes all the programs which tie it together. It runs iOS, but while its ease of use and usability would be readily recognizable to an iPod Touch user, it provides an experience of an entirely greater level. It is truly immersive and delightful. So what parts about the iPad do you find magical? Especially since you have used the iPhone and/or Touch.
